Description
<Desc/Clms Page number 1>

Process for the production of alkali cellulose.
According to the method of patent no.86756, the production of viscose is carried out in such a way that the cellulose is made as free of air as possible before the mercerization process (immersion in alkali lye) and the treatment with alkali itself is expediently carried out under reduced pressure. which does not contain any undissolved fibers and is therefore easy to filter. In addition, the duration of treatment is very shortened by this approach.
It has now been found that the alkali lye penetrates the individual cells of the cellulose fibers significantly more vigorously if, after the addition of the
EMI1.1
Suddenly pressurizes content. When using this method, the penetration of the alkali into the cells of the fibers occurs almost instantaneously. Advantageously, as recommended in patent no. 86756, the cellulose is freed of air as far as possible before the lye enters. The air-free cellulose can of course also be treated directly with lye under pressure.
