  Timber connection with tenon engagement.

The subject of the invention is a wood connection with tenon engagement, in particular in the furniture joinery for the connection of self-supporting structural parts to supports.

The connection is brought about by one or more pins which are wedge-shaped in two directions perpendicular to one another and which, after being inserted through grooves of corresponding width, engage in grooves which are also wedge-shaped in two directions. The tenons wedge themselves into the grooves, which results in a completely secure fit, which is retained even when the wood shrinks, since the tenons penetrate deeper into the grooves under the load,
In the drawing, the subject matter of the invention is shown in an exemplary embodiment, namely FIGS. I and 2 show the two structural parts to be connected in a diagram.

The cantilevered structural part to be suspended (FIG. I) is provided in the present case with three pegs which have a wedge-shaped (conical) cross-section both in the horizontal and in the vertical direction. Accordingly, both the boundary surfaces 1, 1 ', 1 "and 2, 2', 2" and the surfaces opposite them appear as trapezoids.

In the supporting structural part (Fig. 2) two types of grooves are arranged, those which allow the insertion of the tenons and those which form the seat for the tenons. The grooves 3, 3 ', 3 "for the introduction of the tenons are rectangular
 EMI1.1
the pegs penetrate from above until they are tight. It is set up in such a way that the tenons cannot initially penetrate to the full depth of the grooves (measured downwards), so that when the wood shrinks, there is enough space for the tenons to continue by themselves under the influence of the weight can penetrate and always keep a tight fit in every direction.

If several pins are arranged one below the other, machining is simplified by letting the grooves merge into one another and leaving the corresponding wedges in the continuous groove,
For the essence of the invention, it is of course irrelevant whether the pins are arranged on the load-bearing and the grooves on the supporting structural part or vice versa.
