PATENT-ANSPRÜCHE : i.

Made of a ratchet and a slide. existing line breaks for typewriters.
The invention relates to such line connections for typewriters, which consist of a ratchet and slide and aims to create the simplest possible setting of the line connection. Corresponding to this purpose, the device forming the subject matter of the invention consists of a rotatable drum of such a shape or construction that, depending on its position, it regulates the stroke of the switching pawl according to the line spacing. To adjust the line spacing, the drum is provided with a segment-like nose and a pin in such a way that one or the other end of the nose or the pin acts on the pawl.
The drum itself can be provided with a scale for more convenient adjustment of the line spacing.
In the drawing, a typewriter is shown diagrammatically as far as is necessary for understanding the invention, FIG. 2 is a vertical cross section of FIG. 1, FIGS. 3, 4, 5 and 6 show different positions of the Adjustment device and the ratchet.
On the left side part of the roller frame 1, which is mounted in the carriage frame 2 and carries the platen 3, a plate 4 is attached on which a slide 5 guided in a known manner through a pin and slot is arranged horizontally. This slide carries a double-armed pawl 6, the front tooth-like end of which engages in a known manner in the ratchet wheel 7 of the platen J ', while the device forming the subject of the invention acts on the rear arm and thereby gives the pawl a different stroke. A rod 8 is attached to the slide 5 and carries a compression spring 9 by means of which the slide is always brought into the initial position shown in FIG.
To move the slide:? a lever 10 rotatably arranged on the carriage frame and operated by the pen's finger is used in a known manner.
The tail-like arm 6 a of the pawl 6 is under the action of a drum 11 which is rotatably arranged and in any position corresponding to the different line spacings. Way can be held. The drum is provided with a cutout in such a way that a segment-like nose is created, against one or the other end 11 a (FIG. 5) or 11 b (FIG. 6) of which the tail band 6 a of the pawl 6 rests. In addition, a pin 12 is attached in the cutout, which also acts on the tail end 6 a of the pawl 6 in a position corresponding to the third line spacing.
In the rest position, both ends 11 a and 11 b of the nose, as well as the pin 12, press on the tail end 6 ader pawl 6 and thereby bring them out of the area of the ratchet wheel 7. When the slide 5 is advanced, the tail is now 6 a of the pawl 6 released sooner or later depending on the position of the drum 11, so that the pawl 6 in a known manner sooner or later with the ratchet? comes into engagement and this advances more or less according to the desired line spacing,
