Patentanmeldung A 238/91 vorgeschlagen worden.

<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

The invention relates to a frame for plate elements, such as glass plates for building facades, glass roofs, glass houses or the like, wherein the frame has rungs with bearing surfaces for the plate elements and retaining strips for holding and covering the edges of the plate elements and an isolator between retaining strips and rungs is provided.
Such a construction has already been proposed by the applicant in Austrian patent application A 238/91. The insulator described there is divided in two in length in order to be used more easily in a retaining profile of the rung.
The fastening screws for the retaining strip either screw directly into the insulator or through the insulator into a screw channel in the rung. There are disadvantages in both cases. For direct screwing to the insulator, it must be made of a relatively compact material, so that it is relatively expensive in terms of material and has poor thermal insulation properties. When screwing to the load-bearing rung, the metal screw creates a cold bridge, which also reduces thermal insulation.
The aim of the present invention is to achieve a frame and a facade construction with the highest thermal insulation properties at a low cost.
According to the invention, the frame is characterized in that isolator strips are arranged successively in sections between the holding strip and rung, by means of which the minimum distance between the rung and holding strip and the lateral distance between adjacent plate

is given elements, and tie rods made of solid heat-insulating material, in the fastening screws for fastening the retaining bar can be screwed.
Further features can be found in the patent claims, the subsequent description and the drawings.
The invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the drawings.
1 shows a top view of a facade section, FIG. 2 shows a section along the line 11-11 and FIG. 3 shows a section along the line 111-111 in FIG. 4 is a top view of the corner area of two plate elements.
1 shows the top view of a facade section which comprises three vertically arranged supporting rungs 1.
The rungs carry the plate elements 2, the plate edges being designated by the reference number 3. Cross bars 4 run between the vertical load-bearing rungs 1 in order to cover the horizontal plate edges. From all rungs 1, 4, the retaining strips can be seen, which are fastened by means of fastening screws 5.
Fig. 2 shows a section along the line 11-11 in Fig. 1, partially showing two plate elements in section, which are in the form of insulating glass panes. The rung 1 comprises a support profile 6 and thus the holding profile 7 in one piece. The holding profile comprises mutually directed inner shoulders 8, through which bearing surfaces 9 are formed. The support seals 11 are seated in the holding grooves 10. The inner glass panes of the plate element 2 rest on the support seals 11. The holding profile also has an inner support 12, which consists of two parallel webs and forms the screw channel 13 between them.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
The plate elements 2 are held from the outside by the retaining strip 14, cover seals 15 ensuring the seals to the outside. The cover strip 16 is seated on the holding strip 14.
Between the retaining bar 14 and the rung, the insulator bar 17 is arranged, by means of which the distance between the rung and the retaining bar and, if appropriate, the distance between adjacent plate elements 2 is determined. The holding strip 14 presses with its baseboards 18 onto the insulator strip 17 from above.
The insulator strip 17 consists of a foot part 19 and a web part 20 projecting outward therefrom. With the foot part 19, the insulator strip can be easily inserted into the holding profile 7, namely in the longitudinal direction of the holding profile.
The shoulders 21 support the insulator strip on the left and right on the inner shoulders 8 of the holding profile 7.
The insulator strips preferably consist of a highly heat-insulating material such as polystyrene foam. The material must be strong enough to withstand the pressure of the retaining bar

static properties of the system improved.
The web part 20 of the insulator strip has a lengthwise ripped surface on the lateral support surfaces (ribs 22). This longitudinal ribbing provides ventilation of the sealing surface and condensate can also drain off.
Fig. 3 shows a section along the line 111-111 in Fig. 1 and shows the arrangement at those points where the retaining strip is screwed down.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
The isolator strip 17 is interrupted at this point.
A fastening screw 5 protrudes through a hole 23 in the retaining strip 14 and is screwed to the tie rod 24. The tie rod 24 consists of a base plate 25 and a mounting body 26. The base plate 25 and the mounting body 26 are preferably made in one piece from solid plastic material. The base plate 25 is seated in the holding profile 7 between the inner shoulders 8 and the inner support 12. The tie rod can be inserted by a lateral tilting movement, the stop bar 27 defining the holding position.
As can be seen in FIG. 3, the height of the mounting body is less than the height of the insulator strip 17, so that when the fastening screw 5 is screwed in, corresponding pressure is exerted on the insulator strip 17 over the entire length of the frame part or the rung. Smaller bumps and bends can be easily compensated.
Fig. 4 shows the top view of the corner area of two plate elements 2. The insulator strips 17 are arranged in sections and the tie rods 24 are located at each fastening point. The mounting bodies 26 have holding grooves 28 arranged in height, which can serve for locking projections 29 of supporting bodies 30 record.
In Fig. 4 the support body is arranged so that it supports the two plate elements 2 below. By swiveling 900, the support body 30 can also be pushed onto the mounting body 26 in such a way that it supports plate elements to the left or right, as may be required in the given case. The hole 31 can receive a fastening screw which engages in the screw channel 13.
The length of the individual sections of the isolator strips 17 depends on the distance between the tie rods 24 and the associated fixings.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
Stigungslöcher 23 of the retaining bar 14 from. Distances of around 25 cm can be advantageous in practice.
As can be seen in particular from FIG. 3, there is no cold metal-metal bridge in the frame according to the invention, as a result of which a very low heat transfer coefficient can be achieved, such as a k value of 1.3 for the frame and 0.9 for the facade element as a whole.
