Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

  Method for producing feed and food from sugar beet, in particular for use as an additive for baking.

   Attempts have been made to produce filling mass from raw beet juice and to break it down into a durable dry product by heating and suddenly cooling, but this failed because of the tough, greasy nature of the mass.

   About juicy plant substances. To be able to dry, one has already brewed this with steam, removed part of the juice by letting it run off, squeezing it or spinning it and, if it could not be processed on a food completely or after cleaning, after thickening with the goods to be dried or dried mixed, with post-drying being provided in the latter case. During this process, destruction and unfavorable changes in the nutritional values of plants (e.g. sugar, pectin substances, etc. of the beet) occur.

   The aim of the present process is to produce dry, fine-grained or powdered feed and food from the sugar beet, in which both the sugar and the other nutrients are obtained completely and without any change. The process consists in the beet, as is customary in the manufacture of sugar, after being crushed by a leaching process (diffusion, etc.)

   ) juiced, then squeezed, the leached, crushed water-containing material, which at most only contains juice in small amounts in a very dilute state, subjected to a drying process up to a dry matter content of over go0 /, and the juice obtained during the juice extraction without any further Cleaning by evaporation under vacuum at as low a temperature as possible is concentrated to a tight filling mass that its water content is between 5 to 1/2. In this raw juice filling mass obtained in this way, the dried material, which has previously been comminuted to an at least fine-grained or flour-like state, is introduced (sprinkled) with movement in a certain ratio.

   The amount added must be at least large enough that at least the ratio of sugar to the other dry substance of the beet is present in the finished product. Here, the mixture immediately breaks down into a fine-grain or flour-like product. The product obtained contains all the components of the sugar beet in their original state. Because of its easy digestibility, it is particularly suitable as an additive in the production of bread.
