Fig. stellt eine Eckverbindung beispielsweise dar.

Carburetor system for internal combustion engines with double carburetors for liquid and solid
Fuel.
The invention relates to a device which makes it possible to drive both stationary and, in particular, vehicle engines (internal combustion engines) with naphthalene or similar solid fuels. The essence of the invention consists in the heating of the spray nozzle for the solid fuel, the arrangement of air heating, heating of the container and lines and the formation of the connecting elements for the sheathed naphthalene line.
The device essentially consists of the double carburetor for liquid and solid fuels, the radiator, which uses exhaust gases to preheat the intake air of the engine, the container for the liquid and the solid fuel, which is equipped with a heater that uses the waste heat of the engine is operated, the lines, namely the intake lines, the fuel lines and the heating lines.
In Fig. 1 a schematic compilation is given, for example, in Fig. 2 the double gasifier is shown in section, Figs. 3, 4 and 5 show the pipe connections and connections as they are used in the heated naphthalene line.
The double carburetor contains two nozzles, namely one for liquid and one for solid fuel Dt or D2, which open into a common space which is connected to the intake pipe of the engine by a throttle element of known design. The nozzles communicate with the associated fuel tanks B and B2 through the fuel lines and b2 in the same way as is otherwise usual with carburetors for only liquid fuels (e.g. by means of floats, needle valves, etc.). Essential here. is that the nozzle for the solid fuel D2 is surrounded by a tube R, which carries preheated air, which mixes with the intake air, thereby preventing clogging by solidification.
It is also possible for more than one nozzle to be arranged for both the liquid and the solid fuel; Then each of the fuel nozzles carrying the solid fuel is heated. The float housing. for the solid fuel is surrounded by a heating jacket M.
The heater H (Fig. I) is used to preheat the intake air by means of the exhaust heat of the engine. It essentially consists of two cavities, one of which is flowed through by the exhaust gases and the other by the intake air. In FIG. I, it is formed, for example, by means of a tube system. At Ai the exhaust gases enter, flow through the pipes and are continued through the heating line at A'1. The intake air enters at Ll, flows around the pipes and enters the intake line dz heated at L'i.A part of the intake air enters the pipe r at L2, is further preheated here and enters the hot air line 12 at L'2.
The container for liquid fuel Bi (FIG. I) can be embodied in any known manner, that for solid fuel B2 is equipped with a heater which is operated with exhaust gases. A heating coil S is arranged in FIG. 1, but a rib body, a heating jacket or any other known construction can also be used. The containers can be equipped in a known manner with pressure lines d and fittings.

The suction line Zi (Fig. I) connects the radiator with the carburetor. It contains an adjustable opening C, which allows any amount of cold air to be mixed into the preheated intake air. The hot air line 12 supplies the nozzle heating tube R (FIG. 2) with warm air and can either branch off from the suction line l1 or, as indicated in FIG. I, connect directly to the heating element L'2. It can also contain a shut-off device.
The line b1 for the liquid fuel connects in a known manner the corresponding container to one side of the gasifier, that for the solid fuel b2, the other container to the second side of the gasifier. Each of the two lines has corresponding shut-off devices. The naphthalene line is covered throughout by a heating line hs, which carries exhaust gases, which have double pipes that occur in this way. Connection and connection pieces which also form the subject matter of the invention. They are designed in such a way that only a single connection is used for the pipelines lying one inside the other, which simultaneously presses or holds the ends of the outer and inner pipe string against one another, with the ends lying directly against one another or seals being interposed.
In Figs. 3, 4 and 5, three versions are shown, for example. The pipe ends Ri, Ti and fi, T2 to be connected are attached to the connecting pieces A and B in any known way (e.g. soldering, welding, screwing, etc.). Each of these connecting pieces contains two kinds of openings, one of which represents the continuation of the inner tube, the other opening (or openings) the continuation of the outer tube. They can be centered against one another and are pressed tightly against one another or held against one another by union nuts, flanges or in any known manner.
In Fig. 3, the pipe ends are soldered and the connecting pieces A and B are pressed against one another by a union nut. In the embodiment according to FIG. 4, the pipe end of R also forms the connecting piece A. The pipe end R2 is supported without being firmly connected, merely by the contact pressure against the piece B. The sealing of the inner line is conical. FIG. 1 shows a corner connection, for example. In this case, a screw bolt and nut serve as a common connection element for both pipe strings. The same also serves to lead through the inner pipe channel.
The heating lines provide the heat supply for the liquefaction of the solid propellant, namely for the container, pipe, float housing, etc. The exhaust gases are wholly or partially fed into the radiator H (Fig. I), where they warm up the intake air and then via line h1 Flow through the naphthalene container. A branch line h2 leads exhaust gases into the heating jacket of the float housing, then as a jacket & s of the naphthalene line up to the inlet E of the naphthalene into the line and then into the open. The heating gases can also be conducted in such a way that the flow through line ha is in the opposite direction. Throttle devices that enable regulation can be arranged in the heating lines.
The start-up procedure and the mode of operation are as follows: The engine is started in the normal way with liquid fuel, the naphthalene line being shut off. The exhaust gases melt the naphthalene in the container, in the lines and in the carburetor. As soon as a sufficient amount is liquefied near the inlet and the lines are correspondingly warm, it is possible to switch to naphthalene operation, with the liquid naphthalene in the same way as another liquid fuel works. For this purpose, all you have to do is set the air supply line to warm air, open the naphthalene line and close the fuel line. By removing the warm air, the exhaust gases are significantly cooled, so that the heat supply to the container is reduced.
During the start-up time with liquid fuel, most of the exhaust heat is available for melting the naphthalene, which greatly shortens the start-up time and saves the more expensive liquid fuel.
In the further course, during which the exhaust gases only serve to slowly melt down all of the naphthalene in the container. and the heat losses are to be covered, as a result of the above-mentioned temperature drop automatically occurring in the heating line h1 when switching over, overheating in the naphthalene tank is avoided, i.e. automatic control is achieved, while the lines h2 and for the heating of the inlet of the line and the carburetor the undiminished heat of the Get exhaust gases, so that solidification of the naphthalene is avoided with certainty. The casing R of the naphthalene nozzle is generally traversed by warm air, which is also sucked in, both with gasoline and with naphthalene operation.
This does not hinder the petrol operation and has the effect that during the transition to naphthalene operation and also further on this does not solidify in the nozzle, whereby the operation is secured.
