Wheel hub for plain bearings.
The present invention relates to plain bearings, in particular of wheels for motor vehicles, and consists in the fact that a bush that can be tightened onto the axle is permanently connected to the wheel hub, so that the bearing bushes inserted into the wheel hub are not directly on the wheel axle, but rather. run on this intermediate axis.
This has the advantage that the parts that move relative to one another (bearing bushes and intermediate bush) cannot be contaminated in any way. Especially with the spare wheels taken on car journeys, the inconvenience becomes noticeable that the wheel hubs are gathering dust and, as a result, the bearing bushes always have to be laboriously cleaned when the wheel is mounted on the axle in order to ensure that the wheel can turn without problems on the stub axle.
This inconvenience is completely avoided by the present invention, since the bearing bushes do not run on the axle stub, but on the intermediate bushing, which is tightly sealed against the bearing bushes, so there is no fear of dust and uncleanliness.
Attaching the wheel therefore does not present any difficulties, since it does not matter whether the inside of the intermediate sleeve is dusty or not, on the contrary, impurities only increase the friction between the stub axle and the intermediate sleeve, i.e. it supports the firm seating on the axle.
In the drawing, the subject of the invention is illustrated in longitudinal section.
1 is the intermediate bushing which is inextricably connected to the wheel hub 2 and on which the bearing bushes 3 inserted into the wheel hub run.
