Process for the extraction of non-sugar substances from raw juices in the cane sugar industry.
According to the previously practiced procedure, the raw juice of the cane sugar industry (colonial sugar industry) was mixed with small quantities of lime and left to be clarified; the so imperfectly clarified juice which often contained mechanical impurities. was felt to evaporate, while the solid residue of the clarifier was pressed incompletely on presses, as the product proved to be extremely difficult to filter.
This residue, which contains significant amounts of sugar lime, proteins, wax, etc., is inferior; A separation of the wax from the defecation sludge was sought; however, the process turned out to be technically difficult to carry out.
The subject of the present invention now forms a process with which the valuable non-sugar substances are eliminated from the raw juice before treatment with lime. According to the invention, the following procedure is followed: The raw juice of the cane sugar industry produced by the pressing or diffusion process is heated in suitable apparatus until the proteins coagulate, then cooled down and then put on stirrers and mixed with a calcium chloride solution, namely with that much when the non-sugar substances found in the juice make it necessary and the excreted non-sugar substances are deposited on filter presses. The filtration goes on smoothly. The juice obtained in this way is then further treated in the usual way in a known manner.
The precipitate obtained from the C12 Ca solution is used to obtain wax.
