Burners for gases under high pressure.
Gas burners with a gas nozzle and mixing channel are already known in which the flame is enclosed by a sleeve and an air flow is sucked in through this sleeve against the direction of flow of the gas. It is also known to make the mixing channel adjustable relative to the nozzle in burners with a gas nozzle and a mixing channel.
EMI1.1
However, it is designed in a special way so that the air flow entering the sleeve has a ring cross-section, thereby giving the flame a long, pointed shape and isolating it from the sleeve wall, which is not heated as a result. According to the invention, several channels parallel to it, penetrating the transverse wall and through which air flows under the suction effect of the gas jet into the nozzle chamber located under the transverse wall, are formed around the mixing duct provided in a correspondingly thick transverse wall of the sleeve.
In the drawing, an embodiment of a burner manufactured according to the invention is shown by FIG. 1 in a section along its axis, while FIG. 2 shows the front part of the burner with the flame in the same way.
The base plate 1 shown in FIG. 1 is attached to a container for high-tension gas; The gas nozzle 2 with a conical bore that narrows towards the front is screwed into this. The gas used can e.g. B. be acetylene gas. A sleeve 3 is screwed onto the base plate, which has such a thick transverse wall that a mixing channel 4 of a corresponding length can be drilled through the latter. A chamber surrounding the gas nozzle 2 appears beneath this cross wall and is connected to the interior of the sleeve 3 on the other side of the transverse wall by a number of channels 5 parallel to the mixing channel 4.
The gas jet emerging from the nozzle 2 sucks in the air surrounding it, which creates negative pressure in the nozzle chamber; this has the consequence that air is sucked in through the channels 5.
In order to keep this air in contact with the flame over a greater distance during its inflow, the sleeve 3 is provided with a front extension 6. At the rear end carries the sleeve. 3 a disc 7 made of poorly thermally conductive material, which serves as a handle to adjust when the flame 8 is burning.
