Harz-

Method for dissolving the incrustation substances from vegetable cell tissues.

The process of extracting the incrustation substances in the production of cellulose consists in treating wood with alkali, acids or acid salts in the form of solutions superheated to 1400-2000. However, these methods offer great technical difficulties, e.g. B. they lead to rapid wear and tear of the kettle as a result

These inconveniences are avoided to a greater extent by using a more or less neutral reagent, which is able to dissolve cell substances without the aforementioned disadvantages.

Water-soluble resin soaps or soaps of alkali metals now have such properties.

Every neutral soap has the ability to dissolve acids with the formation of acidic compounds and furthermore dissolves alkali with conversion into basic compounds.

Soap also easily dissolves a large number of neutral bodies of the most varied chemical nature, such as hydrocarbons, alcohol, hydrocarbons, albumin, etc.

Experiments have now shown that an aqueous solution of alkaline soap is able to generally dissolve the binding substances of vegetable cell tissues. Resin-

 most moderate means proved.

The procedure is carried out in the following way:
Example I: As in cellulose production, the wood is put into the kettle in finely chopped up condition and a soap solution is poured over it. This solution contains approximately 10-15% resin soap. After about 24-36 hours of cooking under atmospheric pressure (this time depends on the size of the wood particles) the incrustation substance is converted into a soap solution. The cell tissues are easily separated with the aid of a suitable additive which causes them to be converted into a solid mass.

Example It: The procedure up to the boiling is the same as in Example 1. The boiling itself, however, takes place under a pressure of 2-3 atm. instead of. The cell tissues are then shed after 16-24 hours of cooking.
