   Vorliegende Erfindung betritt eine Einrichtung zum Bremsen in solchen elektrischen Betrieben, in denen die zur Stromerzeugung bestimmte Maschine abwechselnd Energie abgibt und aufnimmt und ihren Antrieb durch eine Wärmekraftmaschine erhält. In Betrieben dieser Art lassen sich durch Anwendung der vorliegenden Einrichtung wesentlich technische und wirtschaftliche Vorteile erzielen. Die Erfindung macht von der bekannten Einrichtung Gebrauch, eine Verbrennungskraftmaschine dadurch zu bremsen, dass man sie als Pumpe wirken   lässt.   



   Die Einrichtung nach der Erfindung besteht nun darin, dass man in den Perioden, in   welchen   die als Stromerzeuger bestimmte elektrische Maschine von den beim Bremsen als Stromerzeuger wirkenden Elektromotoren Energie aufnimmt, diese Energie nicht wie bis dahin üblich in besonderen elektrischen   Bremswiderständen vernichten, sondern von   der zur Stromerzeugung bestimmten Maschine unmittelbar an die mit ihr gekuppelte Wärmekraftmaschine abgehen und in dieser als Luftpumpenarbeit vernichten lässt. 



   Anlagen, die nach dieser Einrichtung betrieben werden. erhalten gleichzeitig eineEinrichtung, welche darin besteht, dass der Steuermechanismus der Wärmekraft maschine unter dem Einfluss der beim   Bremsen   der Elektromotoren eintretenden Änderungen der elektrischen Verhältnisse   selbsttätig, z.   B.   durch   Relais, die auf Ventile wirken, für   den Luftpumpenbetrieb umgestellt   wird. Dabei kann gleichzeitig eine Regelung der Bremsarbeit dadurch erzielt werden, dass man die Kompression der Wärmekraftmaschine selbsttätig oder von Hand entsprechend einstellen lässt.
