Vorrichtung zum Fräsen von Kugeln.
EMI1.1
kugelförmigen Gegenstand in mathematisch genauer Kugelform herzustellen ermöglicht.
(Fig. 3.)
EMI1.2
Schraubenmutter e nach Bedarf eingestellt werden kann. (Fig. 1 und 3.)

Device for milling balls.
EMI1.1
allows to produce spherical object in mathematically precise spherical shape.
The device itself, which can be attached to the knife support of every lathe, consists of a tubular milling cutter a, which is screwed onto a center punch b so that it can easily rotate with the latter around its tip c.
The axis of the device is at an angle of approximately 450 to the axis of the lathe (Fig. 4). A toothed milling cutter is used for rough machining of the ball k (FIGS. 1 and 2), while the polishing of the ball is carried out using the sharp edge of a non-toothed milling cutter. (Fig. 3.)
In order to be able to produce balls of different radius, the grain b is with
EMI1.2
Screw nut e can be adjusted as required. (Fig. 1 and 3.)
The rotation of the ball k is caused by a wooden driver m clamped in the faceplate. After the ball is held from one side by the driver m and from the other by the milling cutter a itself, it is prevented from falling out.
Due to the friction between the dome driver M and the ball k, the latter is for. forced rotating movement, which movement is communicated to the cutter a.
After the axes of the driver and the milling cutter have a sharp angle x
EMI1.3
spherical curve describes which has a constant radius of curvature and whose center coincides with the center of the sphere.
Due to the aforementioned circumstance, the entire spherical surface gradually comes into contact with the cutting edge of the milling cutter, whereby an exact spherical shape is produced.
