Device for determining the penetration capacity of rays.
The invention relates to an auxiliary device for the application of X-rays and similar rays of the type known as a cryptoradiometer, in which the image created by the radiation to be examined on a fluorescent screen of a known type of hardness scale used to determine the penetrability of the rays is dimmed by means of light rays Cavity is viewed through. In the known devices of this type, the observer's eyes are exposed to the harmful effects of the rays in whose bundles they are located, since they have to have the fluorescent screen held in front of the radiation source and thus also the radiation source itself in front of them.
This is remedied if, as in known devices for viewing the fluorescent screen images generated by X-rays, the eye opening of the device is not placed opposite the fluorescent screen, but a mirror which reflects the image of the fluorescent screen towards the eye opening.
A su! According to the invention, a mirror arrangement is found in the device for determining the ability of the rays to pass through, in the cryptoradiometer, in such a way that the mirror can be rotated about the viewing direction together with the fluorescent screen and the hardness scale.
An exemplary embodiment of the new device is shown schematically in addition to the type of application in the drawing.
The observer holds the device by the handle a in his hand and looks through the eye opening b of the device in the inclined mirror d attached to the end of the tube c, the mirror image of the rays emanating from the x-ray tube e on the luminescent screen f resulting image of the hardness scale g. As a result of the use of the mirror, the observer's head can remain outside the X-ray beam and thus outside the danger zone of the rays.
The mirror d, the luminescent screen f and the hardness scale y, which is conveniently arranged so that it can be used for other purposes, are marked with the
Tubes c made rotatable about its axis with respect to the handle and the parts h of the device containing the eye opening b. As a result, the device, which is a considerable advantage over the known devices, can be conveniently adjusted by simply rotating the tube c in any desired direction
Adjust the beam of rays (position of the radiation source) without the observer's head having to give up its normal upright posture.
