Wenn das Überziehen beendet ist. wird der Draht elektrisch bis zum Glühen erhitzt, zum Zwecke, den Barium-Harzsäuresalzüberzug bis zur Entzündungstemperatur, beispielsweise bis zu einer Temperatur von ungefähr SilO his 9000 C zu bringen. Der Überzug wird einige Zeit, beispielsweise zwei Stunden lang, auf dieser hohen Temperatur erhalten.
Durch das vorbeschriebene Verfahlt wird ein Draht oder dgl. erhalten, der mit einem dichten, eng anhaftenden Film überzogen ist, welcher vermutlich aus Bariumoxyd und Strontiumoxyd besteht. Dieser aus mehrfachen Schichten bestehende Überzug ist von ausserordentlich grosser Dauerhaftigkeit und Konstanz liniaK'htlich der Elektronen abgebenden Wirkung, wenn der Draht als erhitzte Kathode einer Vakuumröhre benutzt wird.

Verfahren zur Herstellung von Elektronen abgebenden Kathoden, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass auf einen Draht oder dgl. ein oder mehrere Überzüge einer organischen Verbindung eines Metalles der Gruppe alkalischer Erden aufgetragen werden und sodann dieser Draht auf Entzündungstemperatur gebracht wird.
