Extinguishing spark gap for resounding sparks.

For the currently common extinguishing spark gaps in the charging stations for resounding sparks, plates (plates or rings) made of a highly thermally conductive material are used as electrodes, which face each other plane-parallel and must have a very small distance from one another. In order to maintain this distance, intermediate layers are provided between the plates, which consist of mica washers or rings. With this usual structure of the extinguishing spark gap, it is difficult to keep the electrodes in their plane-parallel position to one another in the long term, since they are easily warped as a result of the heating, the extinguishing effect being considerably impaired as a result of the unequal spacing of the electrode surfaces.

The use of mica rings or disks to maintain the electrode spacing is associated with known difficulties. The mica to be used must be used with the greatest care; be selected because it has to withstand high temperatures in addition to the relatively high electrical stress. The result is frequent damage to the intermediate mica layer, which, in addition to increasing maintenance costs, reduces operational reliability.

The object of the invention is to bring the electrode surfaces into the desired parallel position to one another and to secure this position even when the electrodes are heated, without the need for mica rings or other solid insulation materials to maintain the electrode spacing. This is achieved in that the edges of two disk-shaped electrodes overlap, whereby two opposing, cylindrical electrode surfaces are formed, the distance between which is only provided by
 EMI1.1
so that the required electrode ah, t: u) d'is produced. The two panes are electrically separated from one another by an insulating piece i.

Since the distance / spark gap does not depend on the thickness of the insulation piece i, great accuracy is not required for this.

To form a series of extinguishing spark gaps, a larger number of such individual spark gaps are applied to the stud w made of 1 & oJrermaterial.
