In practice, the embodiments according to FIGS. 2 and 1 are mainly inconvenient in that, with a larger number of positions, contact washers with a larger number of contacts would have to be superimposed on one another and all contacts would have to be isolated from one another.
According to the following figures, the device has therefore been designed differently.
In fact, two metal disks isolated from one another are used and on one

alternates with a contact piece of the other disc. At the periphery of this contact device (system disks), contact brushes are then arranged according to the number of desired positions at certain, precisely determined distances from one another, which brushes slide onto the system disk. If the system disks are now rotated past the contact brushes, all of the contact brushes will be partly connected to one system disk and partly to the other.
Each of these two system disks is connected to the current disk by a grinding brush which is constantly in contact with its system disk, namely one system disk, for example, with the; positive pole, the other system disk via a motor or the like. With the negative pole.
Two contact systems made from system discs and system brushes are then combined as a transmitter and receiver to form a whole and the system offices are connected to one another accordingly. If you now turn the system disk a in a contact system, then by touching the system brushes with the individual system disks you get as many different contact series with positive and negative signs as the positions of the contact system were previously determined, and the contact system of the recipient also has the same number of contact series .
If the contact series set on the transmitter and on the receiver are different from each other, a connection is established via the motor to the negative pole of the power source on any branch formed by the system disk and system brush of the transmitter, line, system disk and system brush of the receiver. The engine is therefore put into operation and

disc. With this arrangement, a larger number of different positions can be achieved by using two discs and a corresponding brush indicator.
An example is shown in FIG. 3: and 2 are the system disks on the transmitter, 3 and 4 are those on the receiver. The system brushes are denoted by 5, 5A, äss, 5C. The

put this disc should mean. In order not to have to make the brushes excessively wide, the protruding contact pieces of the disks have been bent and grip one another like fingers between the two disks of a contact system, as can be seen in FIG. The contact disk 1 is sieved at a right angle in the case of the brush 5C, the contact disk 2 likewise in the case of the brush 5 A. The insulation is shown through the black area between the two contact disks.
The device according to FIG. 3 is designed for twelve different positions. There are therefore also twelve different series of contacts if the system disc is rotated by 300, that is one twelfth of its circumference, with the system brushes stationary.
The following table shows the resulting different contact series:

These mechanically or electrically with one another in such a way that for each complete revolution of the system discs of one contact system the system discs of the other contact system only shift jerkily by a single contact position, so in this case over 12,000 different positions with different contact series are obtained.
An embodiment of such a combination is shown in FIG. Here 18 means one pair and 19 the other pair of system disks. Both are coupled to one another by the single gear wheel 21 and the gear wheels 22, 23 in such a way that the system disk Jss has to make a full turn in order to rotate the system disk 18 by one contact position. The motor is denoted by 9, which drives the worm and worm wheel 20, the system disk 19 or, through these and their coupling, the system disk 18.
Since in many cases it is desirable, regardless of the width of the contacts, to fix each position (currentless position) sharply and precisely, one or both contact systems are combined with a so-called zero contact disc, so that the definitive current break is ultimately determined by this zero contact disc .
