Verwendung von Gemischen leicht flüchtiger Betriebsmittel für Verbrennungskraft, maschinen.
Den Gegenstand der Erfindung bildet ein Verfahren zum Antriebe von Verbrennung6kraftmaschine. Man hat bis jetzt in der Hauptsache Benzin, in geringerem Masse Benzol und Alkohol verwendet. Der letztere ist als Ersatz für Benzin und Benzol besonders in solchen Zeiten in Frage gekommen, wo es Schwierigkeiten hat, die beiden genannten Betriebsmittel zu beschaffen. Die Verwendung yon Alkohol hat aber insoferne Schwierigkeitenals, um eine gleichmässige Verdampfung und damit Bildung eines guten Explosionsgemisches zu erzielen, eine weitgehende Vorwarmung des Brennstoffes erfolgen muss, da derselbe im Verhältnis zum Benzin und Benzol einen relativ hohen Siedepunkt aufweist.
Dieser Übelstand wird durch den unvermeidlichen Wassergehalt des technischen Spiritus noch weiter vergrössert. Es ist daher von Wert, die üblichen Betriebsstoffe, insbesondere auch Benzin und Benzol, durch allgemein zugängliche Zusätze einerseits zu strecken und womöglich gleichzeitig ihre Explosionsenergie zu erhöhen.
Diese Aufgabe kann in sehr vollkommener Weise dadurch gelöst werden, dass man den üblichen Betriebsstoffen Äther, und zwar insbesondere Diäthyläther, zusetzt. Es wurde beispielsweise gefunden, dass ein Gemisch von Benzin und 5 bis 100/ Ätbyläther ein ausserordentlich kräftiges Betriebsmittel ist, dessen Dämpfe mit Luft gemischt ausserordentlich starke Energieentfaltung geben. Es wird also bei einem derartigen Gemisch eine nicht unwesentliche Ersparnis des unter Umständen schwer zu beschaffenden Kohlen. wasserstoffes und gleichzeitig damit eine Verbesserung dieses Betriebsmittels herbeigeführt.

The subject matter of the invention is a method for driving an internal combustion engine. Up to now gasoline has been used mainly, and to a lesser extent benzene and alcohol. The latter has come into question as a substitute for gasoline and benzene, especially at times when it is difficult to obtain the two mentioned operating materials. The use of alcohol has difficulties insofar as to achieve uniform evaporation and thus the formation of a good explosion mixture, the fuel has to be preheated to a large extent, since it has a relatively high boiling point in relation to gasoline and benzene.
This inconvenience is exacerbated by the inevitable water content of the technical spirit. It is therefore of value, on the one hand, to stretch the usual operating materials, in particular gasoline and benzene, with generally accessible additives and, if possible, to increase their explosion energy at the same time.
This object can be achieved in a very perfect manner by adding ether, in particular diethyl ether, to the usual operating materials. It has been found, for example, that a mixture of gasoline and 5 to 100 / ethyl ether is an extremely powerful operating medium, the vapors of which when mixed with air give rise to an extraordinarily powerful development of energy. With such a mixture, there is a not insignificant saving of coal, which can be difficult to obtain under certain circumstances. hydrogen and at the same time brought about an improvement of this resource.
