Process for the drainage of excavations under water.

The present invention relates to a method for draining construction pit under water, which is characterized in that within a bottom open, displaceable tower that is to be placed on the sole of the foot and corresponds to the width of the construction pit, the water is displaced and closed by compressed air to the lower edge of the tower or beyond Both sides of the construction pit sheet pile walls are rammed and a watertight ceiling is installed over these sheet pile walls, whereupon a longitudinal tunnel is driven in the sheet pile wall chamber, to which the groundwater flows through its permeable wall, from where it is pumped during the day.

In the drawing, the device used in the execution of the method is shown in Fig. 1 in a longitudinal section and in Fig. 2 in a cross section through the excavation to be drained.

When carrying out the process, a tower a, open at the bottom and corresponding to the width of the excavation to be drained, is used, which can be moved on a scaffolding b to be built and can be set lower or higher depending on the depth of the water. In the case of high water levels, where the tower's own weight is not sufficient to place it on the sole of the foot, a weighting made of cast iron, lead or concrete is used.

Tower a is used to convey compressed air to the lower edge of the tower and, where necessary, to displace even deeper. In the latter case, where the underside of the tower touches the sole of the foot, some clay or fine sand is placed in front of it.

The tower a also serves to drive in electrical or compressed air rams c on both sides of the construction pit sheet pile walls d and to build a watertight ceiling c over these and connected to the bottom of the foot.

In the space enclosed by sheet pile walls d and closed up by the ceiling e, under the Soh! p of the future structure a small tunnel is driven, the walls of which are water-permeable or contain pipes through which the groundwater flows into the tunnel, so that it can be transported over the day by pumps.
The installation of the structure above the tunnel and between the sheet pile walls can thus
