Die beiden aneinander liegenden Teile des Streifens üben hiebei eine Reibung aus, wodurch die Haltekraft der Klemme in dem Schlitz unterstützt wird.
Auf diese Weise ist die gesamte Umfläche der Trommel als Anstreichssäche verwendbar, da die Klemme selbst äusserst schmal ausgeführt- werden kann ; Das frei vorragende Ende des Streifens kann abgerissen werden, wobei die eine Kante der Klemme als Trennungsmesser dienen kann. Ist der umliegende Teil des Streifens abgenutzt, so kann die Klemme zurückgezogen und ein neuer Teil des Streifens herausgezogen werden.
Dieser neue Teil wird dann gleichfalls nm die Trommel herumgelegt und in derselben Weise festgeklemmt, wie vorher, worauf der abgenutzte Teil wieder abgerissen wird.
Offenbar ist die gesamte Einrichtung sehr einfach in der Konstruktion und auch bequem zu handhaben, und kann nicht leicht unbrauchbar werden. Ist der Deckel abgenommmen, so kann ein neues, aufgespultes Band eingelegt, das Ende durch den Schlitz herausgezogen und nach Umlegen um die Trommel wieder festgeklemmt werden, worauf das freie Ende abgerissen wird. Alle Teile der Einrichtung sind leicht zugänglich, da die Klemme vollkommen unabhängig von dem Deckel ist. Ist die Einrichtung in der besprochenen Weise gebrauchsfertig gemacht, so kann der Deckel wieder aufgeschraubt werden.
