can be largely removed, for example, by filtration through permutite. So the Winler method for determining the oxygen gel content of the filtered water could be carried out scientifically flawlessly. During the investigation, the filtered water turned out to be practically a sanerstorei. Even after 12 hours of drinking water over the iron, the water running off was freed of oxygen to the same extent as in the first liontroll attempts. The Rob water itself contained 5'9 cm3 of oxygen per liter.

The fact that the oxide layer of the metal does not depend on a certain carbon content of the water is evident from the fact that completely carbonic acid-free water, which was saturated with oxygen, also gave up its oxygen content when filtered over iron. Even with a much stronger flow of water, as stated above, the effect of the iron is still striking. It is advisable to clean the metals by treating them with acids or soaps before using them as filter material.

For the technical application of the process one has to keep in mind that the water is not exposed to the air again during or after the filtration or can absorb air, since the oxygen-free water quickly absorbs oxygen. The metal hydroxides formed are expediently retained by filtration or sprayed off periodically. You can also nitrate dissolved iron over carbonate of lime, etc., or, if you want iron-free water, permute it.

This follow-up treatment can therefore be set up according to various methods.

The procedure has the advantage of being very simple. Foreign salts are not brought into the water. The water to be filtered can be filtered at both normal and elevated temperatures.
