Device for filling closed spaces with fire-suffocating or disarming ends
Gases.
The present invention relates to innovations in devices which are used for smothering fires that have broken out in closed spaces, for fumigating closed spaces with disinfection and the like. s. w. serve. By means of such devices, as set out in patent no. 2858, the closed space with a corresponding,

for example sulfur dioxide, filled and then cooled by initiating a flow of the gas through the closed space and through a cooling device.
The device consists of a furnace used to generate the gas, preferably sulfur dioxide, and a return line for the gas. a pump or a fan to generate the flow and a cooling device connected to the line.
According to the invention, the introduction of the gases takes place in this way through a tube leading into the closed space, inside the same on the underside with a series of outlet openings. that the gases flow downwards when exiting the tube. The inlet tube is placed at a short distance from the floor, so that the escaping gases can flow over the floor, which is made of a combustible material, or over the lower parts of inflammable objects on the floor

and provided with a series of drainage holes on the top.
Another innovation relates to the arrangement of a cooling device connected to the circulation system between the gas-generating furnace and the inlet pipe, in which the gases escaping from the furnace before entering the closed one

As can be seen, the inlet pipe B, which is arranged just above the floor in the closed room A provided with a door A1, and each of the branched off pipes B1 are provided with a series of openings Ba on the underside. The open ends of the B2

and are connected to a common exhaust line 0, also equipped with openings ('at the top, which is equipped with a shut-off valve C4 outside chamber A. A slide valve C6 switched on in an open connection C5 serves to connect the exhaust line to the outside space.
The gas generator D consists of a Fouorbchse D, Feuerzugon D3, D4, which open into the chimney D5, and a closed retort DI. Inside the retort they are closed

arranged that "the gaso must take a winding path between them.
The escaping gases are also deflected downwards by the wall D9. E is a vessel filled with a liquid and used to hold the sulfur flowers, which is connected on the one hand to the gas generator D through the line J and on the other hand to the cooling device F. The open end J1 of the line J is led close to the bottom of the Gofässes E, while the mouth Kl of the line is above the liquid level. The cooling device F consists of two by means of a row on

but through a secondary line L with the line adjoining the exhaust pipe C / in direct connection. An exhaust valve L1 is also switched into the secondary line L.
From the cooling device F, a line M leads to the fan G causing the flow of the gas in the closed system. This line is provided with a regulating slide M2 which connects to the outside and which is attached in a lateral connection piece. In the line T connecting the gas generator D to the exhaust pipe ('there is a shut-off valve 13 and a regulating slide I2 serving for connection with the outside space releasable coupling pieces 11 in connection.

Collecting vessel E, cooling device F and back into chamber A.
The oxygen in the air combines with the sulfur in the retort to form sulfur dioxide 4-
EMI2.5
The device 1'cooled gases enter the chamber A, where they flow downwards through the openings B3 when they exit the tube B, so that they must come into contact with the material located in the lower part of the chamber.
If the gases in chamber A are to be cooled without increasing their percentage sulfur dioxide content, valve LI is opened and valves J3 and K2 are closed. The gas generator D and the collecting vessel E are switched off and the flow of gases through the cooling

tile M2 and C''geöSuct. The ventilator sucks in air through the connection M and drives it into the chamber A, while the gas located in the same escapes through the exhaust pipe C and the connection C5.
If chamber A is filled with sulfur dioxide for the purpose of suffocating a fire that has broken out in it, the charred material easily ignites when a larger amount of air is admitted, even if the fire is completely suffocated and the chamber has cooled down. The danger is eliminated by the fact that air is only gradually introduced. For this boo the valves C6 and J (or, if the oven D2 is not heated with flour, the valve 12) are only partially opened and regulated by the air inlet as required.
