Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

  Process for the preparation of celluloid-like masses.

   It has been found that the acyl compounds are completely hydrogenated aromatic bases, which, as has been shown, are technically very easily accessible. excellent for the production of celluloid-like masses. They have excellent swelling and dissolving power for nitrocellulose, etc., and the products produced with them are odorless and colorless and show excellent resistance to heat and light. An important distribution is that they all have a low specific weight.

   Example l.

   35 parts by weight of acetyldicyclohexylamine (obtainable from acetyhers of dicyciohexylamine, colorless crystals with a melting point of 1030) are mixed with 82 parts by weight of nitrocellulose with the addition of alcohol and processed in a known manner. A very beautiful, colorless celluloid is obtained.

   Example 2.

   30 parts by weight of acetyldicyclohexylamine and 70 parts by weight of acetone-soluble acetylcellulose are dissolved in a mixture of alcohol, acetone and ethyl methyl ketone and this solution
 EMI1.1

   The procedure is analogous when using other acylamines of the type identified at the outset and other cellulose derivatives.
