The conveyor house C has a vertical bucket E, the lower end of which leads to the bottom of the funnel B, while the upper end is arranged near the upper end of the tower 0. A large number of very small holes 2 are provided in the walls of the scoop 1 of this conveying device, so that the liquid is completely removed from the material during the upward movement of this scoop. Near the upper end of the tower 0 there is an outlet chute F into which the contents of the scoop are poured when the scoops move around the chain pulley 3 of the conveyor system. The channel F guides the material into a basket 4a after the upper end of the drying tower G.
In this tower there is a number of drying tubes 4 and sliding plates 5 laid diagonally downwards. The drying tubes can be provided with either steam or hot air.
The material to be dried falls due to its own weight from the basket 4a over the various tubes and guide plates into the lower part of the drying tower, where this material is carried by means of a suitable conveyor device H to a railroad car or the like.
In the tower A, not far above the level of the cooling liquid D, a number of openings Ja are arranged, through which air can enter the interior of the tower. From the head end of the tower, however, a suction tube 6 leads, the other end of which leads to a not shown
Suction pump or the like. Is connected. This creates an upward air flow in the tower which is suitable for extracting heat from the particles falling from the top of the tower.
An attachment 7 is arranged on the tower A, the cylindrical wall of which is

Correct size, namely the holes in floors lying directly on top of one another are not in vertical alignment. The holes are also not regularly arranged in every single floor. As can be seen from FIG. 2, the holes in the lower base 10 have extensions 1J towards the surface of the base and also extensions 11a towards the lower surface. so that a relatively narrow hole remains free in the middle of the floor thickness. A tube j? 2 feeds molten pitch into the attachment 7. This tube can come from any smoldering device.
Pumps can be arranged in the line for evenly supplying the pitch.
If the pitch enters the attachment 7 in sufficiently large quantities through the tube 12, the material fits through the holes in the upper base 8, hits the base 9 and flows

Natural and artificial asphalt can be treated in exactly the same way: types of resin can also be subjected to similar treatments.
PATENT CLAIMS:
1. A method for the production of hard, commercially available pitch in the form of small, uniform pieces, such as pearls, pearl barley or the like., Characterized in that the molten Pt'chmasse is divided into individual drops and these drops are introduced into a coolant where they solidify into pearls.
