Abstract
The invention relates to a button for violin and viola. By using a button without a collar or ring made of wood or plastic or titanium or a titanium alloy, the tonal and technical characteristics of a violin or viola are improved in such a way that the existing vibrations, impulses and overtones are not damped, but directly and be transmitted precisely, which is immediately audible. When using titanium or a titanium alloy, the case-by-case coating with TiN or WC / C or CrC or CrN can be used to brighten and differentiate the sound if necessary. By omitting the collar, the position of the button can be selected so that the handle string is parallel to the sides and the conical shaft is really firmly seated in the block.
Description
<Desc/Clms Page number 1>

The invention relates to a button for violin and viola. The button is inserted into a conical hole in the sub-block 5 of a violin or viola in order to then use the handle string, the tailpiece and the strings to generate the tension of the strings on an instrument.
All buttons (Fig. 1) for violins and violas are currently being produced and sold in such a way that there is a collar or wreath 1 at the end of the conical shaft.
The button is also provided with a ball 2 for decoration. In contrast to the conventional buttons (Fig. 1), the invention is based on omitting the collar or the ring 1 completely and placing the round groove for the handle string directly after the conical shaft.
In addition, exchanging the material wood or plastic for the button in titanium or a titanium alloy has tonal advantages due to the vibration resistance and the density of the material. When using titanium or a titanium alloy, it can be coated with titanium nitride, tungsten carbide carbon, chromium carbide or chromium nitride in order to differentiate the sound.
In the case of the button according to the invention (FIG. 2), the distance "x" from the middle of the handle strings to the frames 4 (section FIG. 2) is significantly smaller and enables the button to be rubbed in such a way that the handle string 3, which goes over the lower saddle in leads the tailpiece, runs parallel to the sides 4.
Omitting the collar has two distinct advantages: firstly, it is only possible without a collar to give the conical shaft of the button a real hold, if the insertion is not restricted by the collar, and secondly, only without the collar is the parallelism of the handle string with the Frames possible.
The tight fit of the conical shaft is necessary for better vibration transmission and better hold, and the parallelism of the handle string with the sides ensures that the top of the instrument is not excessively compressed and the bottom of the instrument is not stretched excessively.
In the case of antique violins and violas in particular, the protruding edge of the floor and the edge of the ceiling are naturally worn out and require the distance "x" to be reduced.
This results in a much more free-swinging instrument, with a larger and overtone-rich tone. The instrument is also easier to play due to an easier response.
In addition, the entire instrument, in particular the floor and the ceiling, deforms significantly less over time.
