 EMI1.1

The production of molds by electroplating is known. According to the present invention, however, it is possible to produce a multi-part metal mold for the glass industry from any model by inserting separating plates, whereby a multi-part mold can easily be produced from a model, which was previously only possible with the help of several models. Furthermore, it is particularly advantageous to reinforce the shape by back-casting with iron or brass. You can use a metal that is particularly resistant to heat and moisture.

   The procedure is as follows:
First, a model of the object to be manufactured is made. This can be done in wax, plaster of paris or lead. The decorations on the model can be produced by modeling or by swelling exposed chrome gelatine. Non-conductive models must be made conductive in a known way. Sheets are now inserted into the finished model, as many as the shape should have parts.

A metal is then deposited on the model in a galvanic bath. After this precipitation has become sufficiently strong, the edges of the separating plates are sawn off and the precipitation can now be detached from the model. The hinges and handles for opening and closing the mold are attached to the metal flanges formed by the dividing plates. The shape can be reinforced by pouring back iron or brass. Ribs can also be galvanized for better cooling.
