Device for emptying vertical retorts.
The invention relates to a device for emptying vertical retorts. both those with intermittent and continuous operation. Use is made of a knowledge gained for the horizontal large-chamber furnaces for the production of coke and gas. It has been shown that in the high and narrow chambers and in

splits.
Now give the chambers of the vertical degassing ovens such dimensions. that they correspond approximately to the usual shape of the coke ovens, and if the heating is carried out in such a way that the heat is essentially only supplied to the side surfaces of the chambers, a separating seam running in the middle of the coke cake is also produced here. This appearance

In the drawing, an embodiment of the subject matter of the invention is shown in longitudinal section in FIG. 1. FIG. 2 shows an essential part of the invention in cross section on an enlarged scale. In Fig. 3, a modification of the subject matter of the invention is shown.
The retorts a, which are arranged in pairs next to one another, have a cross-section of approximately t50 by 2500 w. You xld provided with a common feed chute b, one of

The drinking of the coca, ie its saturation with water, prevents it; the excess water can flow off underneath without any further problems. The supply of the water into the separating seam plays a role, as it is of course best for both the penetration of steam into the retort filling and the the constant support of the coke is guaranteed.
The modification of the device shown in Fig. 3 has certain in special cases
Benefits. In the device just described, namely, the movement of the gap body must take place under the full pressure of the charge, and this on the one hand always in the opposite direction to the direction of the coke to be scraped off. In the device shown in FIG. 3, the actual gap body is now stationary and works together with two rollers that are mounted next to it and rotate in opposite directions
To effect scraping of the coke sideways. This facility will initially be a large one
Part of the load of the charging column is absorbed by the solid gap body, especially since the coke cake still has a certain separation despite the seam being formed
Opposes resistance.
The roller bodies relieved in this way only move in the direction of the coke to be scraped off, so that the friction losses that otherwise occur are also eliminated.
On the lower part of the retorts a there is also a bulging, expanded housing here. f connected, in which in the center plane of the chamber the fixed gap body g 'is arranged, which bridges the entire length of the chamber. Next to this body there are those
Rollers 1 attached. which have teeth or bars on the top and their rotation in the
The direction of the arrows. The coke cake sits on the body g ', is split and carried off to the side by the rollers 1. The roles I are from
Feed pressures are partially relieved and only work in the direction of the conveying direction of the coke cake.
The body y * can of course, similar to the oscillating body according to FIG. 2, be made hollow and cooled with water, in which case the water at the upper * cutting edge can also be made to exit for the purpose of extinguishing the coke. They can also
Rollers 1 naturally receive their common drive in a suitable manner.
The invention is not at all linked to the embodiment described here. Instead, various changes can be made within the framework of the guiding principle given without deviating from the essence of the invention.
