the edge of which is lower than the outer edge of the bowl, so that the acid that has been pre-concentrated on its way over the entire bowl system can run off from the middle of the lowest bowl.
In the arrangement illustrated in FIG. 1, the hot acid vapors escaping from the boiler a wash around the bowls f essentially only from the outside; in the arrangement according to FIG. 2, on the other hand, their entire mass is forced through the central opening of the lowest bowl / to step through and also to coat the bottom of the next higher bowl resting on this.
In order to increase the efficiency of the device, a stream of hot air can be blown or sucked through. If desired, although the entire concentration can be carried out in a single tank, a combination of several tanks connected next to one another or one behind the other can be used for this.
The weak acid, which is to be concentrated in the apparatus, enters the uppermost bowl at k, / '. The acid vapors from the entire concentration escape from the apparatus through d and can either be fed to a cooler in a known manner or, for further utilization of their heat, according to the present invention, passed into a tower made of acid-resistant material next to the apparatus, which is sprinkled with cold acid will. The weak acid used for sprinkling is then obtained from this tower, plus the condensed distillate in a hot state.
