Description

Process for preserving mixtures of dry acids or acidic salts and perborates containing water of crystallization
To disinfect the oral cavity, substances are usually used which release oxygen through contact with the mucous membranes and saliva, such as hydrogen peroxide, peroxides, perborates. By decomposing the perborate with an acid immediately before use, a solution of hydrogen peroxide is obtained. It would therefore be very convenient to use tablets containing perborate and a dry acid, e.g. B. tartaric acid or citric acid, and dissolved in water give hydrogen peroxide. However, such mixtures do not last because the water of crystallization causes decomposition after a short time.
According to the present invention, however, such tablets can be made durable by adding a mixture of perhorate and dry acid or acid season
EMI1.1
Then these mixtures become a single one, so a durable powder is obtained from which one can press tablets that are just as durable. 1) This fact is all the more surprising since sodium bicarbonate, that is, an acidic proposition, cannot be regarded as an indifferent remedy for perborate and tartaric acid. If the tablets are brought together in water, an alkaline hydrogen peroxide solution is obtained immediately, whereas perborate bicarbonate tablets without the addition of tartaric acid dissolve only slowly.
