Process for the production of quebracho extracts, which are clearly soluble at various temperatures required during tanning.

It is known that the extracts obtained from quebracho wood through hot water result in solutions from which insoluble components, namely l'hlobaphene and sparingly soluble tannins, precipitate on cooling. Through thorough experimentation it was

but are soluble to some extent in tannin solutions, and this solubility is a function of temperature and concentration. The situation is such that at a certain temperature and concentration only a very certain amount of the substances mentioned is soluble and the solubility increases with increasing concentration and temperature.

A drop in temperature and concentration causes the l'hlobaphene and the sparingly soluble tannin to precipitate and thus the broths to become cloudy. l'hlobaphen and sparingly soluble tannin containing extracts, which are used as heat-soluble extracts in

The loss of soluble tannin, which was carried away by the insoluble material, was very significant, and the recovery of the tannin that had been carried along required repeated boiling of the sludge with water, which then had to be evaporated again.

was hurled, united. A tanning extract which is clearly soluble at the desired temperature is obtained from the uniform tanning agent solution obtained in this way by evaporation.

Instead of subjecting the cooled broth to a centrifugal effect, the sludge that settles when the cooled broth is left to stand can also be used, which is next to the phlobaphene

This type of production of clear-soluble extracts has the great advantage of working very quickly with great space savings and great production possibilities, but also has the valuable opportunity to produce extracts which are clearly soluble at the required temperature, e.g. B. Extracts for broth tanning, which must be clearly soluble at 10 to 15, or for barrel tanning, for which a clear solubility between 30 and 100 is required.

By pressing the precipitated sludge, a very economical way of recovering the entrained tannin is achieved.

PATENT CLAIM: Process for the preparation of quebracho extracts which are clearly soluble at different temperatures required during the tanning, characterized in that quebracho broths or the sludge which separates at the respective temperatures are subjected to vigorous centrifugation at the desired temperatures that are to be kept constant, whereby the insoluble is centrifuged out and the entrained tannin, combined with the clear brute, is recovered by pressing.
