Description
AT 000 556 UlAT 000 556 Ul
The invention relates to a jewelry object with at least one jewelry element, and a method for its production.
It is already known to set the actual decorative elements of jewelry objects, such as, for example, gemstones, semi-precious stones, pearls, corals, etc. in metals, in particular gold.
The object of the invention is to create an aesthetically pleasing jewelry item that allows numerous design options on the basis of actual jewelry elements.
According to a first variant of the invention, this is achieved in that the jewelery element (s) is (are) surrounded by a hardenable, at least in the hardened state, transparent mass, the hardened mass preferably being mechanically processed, in particular ground and / or polished .
AT 000 556 UlIt is already known, for example, to pour flowers or butterflies into curable compositions for preservation purposes. According to the present invention, jewelry elements that generally do not require any preservation, such as, for example, precious stones, semi-precious stones, synthetic stones, glass stones, pearls, corals, etc., are nevertheless surrounded by a curable, transparent mass in order to create a new type of jewelry object. The hardenable mass can then be ground in a wide variety of forms, for example according to one of the known gemstone cuts, and optionally polished. This allows numerous variation options for one and the same decorative element. Inside the curable mass, the jewelry, element (s) " floating " held, which gives a new aesthetic impression in jewelry. It is also possible to view the interior of the decorative element from all sides without, for example, the rear being covered by a socket. Due to the lower thermal conductivity of the hardened mass compared to stones or pearls, the new jewelry item feels more comfortable on bare skin. 2 AT 000 556 Ul
Since curable compositions are generally only temperature-resistant to a limited extent, special care is required during the grinding process. In order to also be able to use the usual rapidly rotating abrasives, it is provided according to a second variant of the invention that the decorative element (s) is (are) surrounded by a curable, at least in the cured state, the curable mass being surrounded by a Envelope is surrounded by another material, which other material is preferably glass. This additional material, in particular glass, allows the use of conventional abrasives. However, it would not be possible to pour liquid glass directly around decorative elements, such as semi-precious stones, pearls or corals, without endangering these decorative elements and without getting air pockets. Therefore, according to the invention, the actual decorative element is first surrounded with a hardenable mass, which lies snugly and without bubbles on it without destroying it. The outer surface of this curable composition can be a ball, for example. Then you can glue this ball with the jewelry element (s) it contains between two glass elements and then grind the glass. Overall, you then have the visual impression that the decorative element is simply contained inside the cut glass.
Further advantages and details of the invention, in particular also methods for producing the jewelry item, are explained in more detail in the following description of the figures.

The exemplary embodiment of a jewelry object according to the invention shown in FIG. 1 has a ground gemstone or semi-precious stone as the jewelry element 1. In principle, however, other decorative elements such as pearls or corals are also suitable. According to the basic idea of the invention, this jewelry element is now surrounded by a hardenable mass 2, which is ground or polished after hardening. In principle, it would also be conceivable to cast the curable mass 2 in a closed mold around the decorative element 1, so that the outer shape of the curable mass is given by the inner shape of the closed mold without further mechanical processing processes. However, as already mentioned, it is preferred to first cast a curable mass around the jewelry element 1 and then to grind it.
The attachment of such a holder 3 in the hardenable mass 2 presents no problems and allows a secure holder to be used without having to damage the actual decorative element 1.
Particularly suitable as curable compositions are those which cure under the action of light, for example a polymerization adhesive from ROHM, which is commercially available under the brand name Acrifix 192. However, other curable compositions, for example two-component mixtures, can also be used. Curable compositions which contain polymethyl methacrylate are particularly cheap because this substance is relatively easy to process, has good mechanical and chemical resistance and is also highly transparent. Colored transparency can also be achieved by adding suitable colors.
Beim Ausführungsbeispiel gemäß Fig. 2 sind in der prismatisch geschliffenen aushärtbaren Masse 2 zwei Schmuckelemente 1 an verschiedenen Stellen eingegossen. 4 AT 000 556 UlIn the exemplary embodiment according to FIG. 2, two decorative elements 1 are cast into the prismatic ground curable composition 2 at different points. 4 AT 000 556 Ul
Dieser Edelstein 1 sinkt dann teilweise in die noch nicht ganz ausgehärtete, aber bereits tragfähige Masse 2' ein.FIGS. 3a to 3e show a preferred method for producing an article of jewelry according to the invention. First of all, a first part 2 · of a hardenable mass is poured into a test tube 5 made of glass and is waited until it has at least partially solidified. If a composition curing under the influence of light is used, then preferably only so little light is supplied that air pockets which are inevitably present can escape upward from the curable composition before it solidifies. In the case of adhesives that cure under UV light, this can be achieved in a simple manner, for example, by exposure to the sun, and in tests the curing has been delayed over several days in order to achieve complete freedom from air inclusions. After this step, which is shown in FIG. 3a, the actual decorative element, for example a gem 1, is now inserted into the test tube from above according to FIG. 3b. This gem 1 then partially sinks into the not yet fully hardened but already load-bearing mass 2 '.
It is advantageous if the mass 2 'in FIG. 3b has not yet fully hardened before the second part 2 " the curable mass according to FIG. 3c is placed in the test tube 5 in order to establish a good connection between the two masses 2 ’and 2 " without achieving a visible dividing line. After the mass 2 " is cured, for example, by destroying the test tube, the cured mass designated as a whole with 2 together with the decorative element 1 located therein can be obtained, as is shown in FIG. 3jbt. The jewelery element 1 is surrounded on all sides by the hardenable mass 2 by this method and can for example be arranged centrally in the hardenable mass. The curable composition can then be brought into an optically appealing shape, for example by grinding or polishing, as shown in FIG. 3ie.
AT 000 556 UlIn the method for producing a jewelry element shown in FIGS. 4a to 4b, the jewelry element 1 is surrounded with a hardenable mass 2 via an injection molding process, in which two mold halves 6 and 7, for example via a piston 5 AT 000 556 Ul
Rod 8 are compressed with high force. In this state, a curable mass is then injected via an injection channel 9. By means of suitable measures, for example pivoting in the direction of the double arrow 10, it can be achieved that the decorative element 1 remains inside the curable mass 2 and does not rest on the edge of the mold . Injection molding processes are known per se and therefore do not need to be described in detail here. However, it is clear that not only can one jewelry element be surrounded with a curable composition in the injection molding process, but that several jewelry elements can be surrounded simultaneously or separately with a curable composition 2 at the same time.
After opening the two mold halves 6 and 7 shown in FIG. 4a, the hardened mass 2 together with the jewelry element 1 located therein can be removed. The injection molding process can be used to produce exact, for example spherical, surfaces which in principle require no further treatment, i.e. the ball shown in the middle of FIG. 4b made of the curable mass 2 with the jewelry element 1 contained therein can in principle also be sold as such as a jewelry item.
7If, for example, you want harder surfaces or very specially ground surfaces, it is advantageous according to a further embodiment of the invention if the curable composition 2 is surrounded by a casing 11a, 11b made of a different material. Glass is particularly suitable as another material, which is characterized by excellent durability and ease of processing. According to FIG. 4b, the shell can consist of two parts 11a and 11b, between which the hardened mass with the jewelry element 1 contained therein is inserted. The two parts 11a and 11b of the casing can be glued to one another, whereby transparent adhesives already exist, so that the dividing lines drawn in dashed lines in FIG. 4c are not visible. For this purpose, it is also favorable if the outer shape of the ball of the hardened mass 2 corresponds exactly to the hemispherical recesses 12 of the parts 11a and 11b of the shell. According to FIG. 4c, one now has the raw version of a jewelry object, in which at least one actual jewelry element, for example a cut gem 1, is located on the inside. The outer surface of the shell 11a, 11b is made of glass and can therefore be easily processed by grinding, whereby glass can be ground at higher grinding speeds because it is much more temperature-resistant than the customary curable materials 2. By using special types of glass, for example lead glass, can be achieve a crystal-like appearance of the jewelry item, the special feature being that an actual jewelry element, for example a cut gem or semi-precious stone, is arranged in the interior of the jewelry item, which is " floating " is held and can be viewed from all sides. 7
