Circuit for electrical resistance welding with the aid of a direct current source.

In the electrical resistance welding process according to patent no. 52242, in which a direct current source in a capacitor circuit with a welding transformer is used, if the transformer is in series with a capacitor, the Üc! it was noticeable that when the secondary circuit of the transformer is not closed, i. H. In the work breaks and in the event of a deficient electrical connection in or on the weldments, the transformer acts as a choke coil, and as a result, strong sparking occurs on the commutator, which is an essential part of converting the available direct current into alternating current.

It has now been shown that this deficiency can be avoided if two or more capacitors are connected in series and the primary winding of the transformer is goschaitot in parallel with some of these capacitors.

Two exemplary embodiments for such a circuit are shown in the drawing.

In Fig. 1, a is a direct current source which is connected to two brushes of the commutator b. The other two brushes of the commutator are connected to the capacitors c and f and the primary winding d of the transformer. The capacitors c and f are continuously reloaded and in the primary transformer winding alternating currents flow in opposite directions, so that in the secondary winding e of the transformer, which contains only a few turns, a low-voltage alternating current is generated, which is fed to the welding electrodes g.

 formators.

In these circuits, liquid capacitors with a relatively large capacity have particularly proven their worth.
