Gleichriclttera. nlage.

Rectification. nlage.
The invention relates to a rectifier system which contains gas-filled hot cathode rectifiers.
It has been shown that rectifier systems that have a gas-filled hot cathode rectifier have inadequate operational reliability in some cases. This is due to the fact that a rectifier tube only has a limited service life and that if the rectifier fails, the effect of the rectifier system is suspended. The object of the invention is to create a rectifier system with high operational reliability.
According to the invention, a rectifier system contains several gas-filled hot cathode rectifiers which are connected in parallel and connected to a common resistor so that only one of the rectifiers is in operation while the system is supplying power.
The invention is illustrated in the drawing using an exemplary embodiment.
1 and 2 are gas-filled rectifiers with hot cathodes, which suitably consist of oxide cathodes. Both rectifiers are designed to rectify two-phase alternating current and are therefore each equipped with two anodes. 3 and 4 designate transformer coils, with the ends of which the
Cathode and anodes are connected in the manner indicated in the drawing. In the circuit according to the figure, the discharge paths of both rectifiers are parallel to a common one
Resistor 5. At 6 the battery to be charged can be switched on in the rectifier system. Rectifiers of the type mentioned have characteristics such that only one of the tubes connected in parallel can carry current. As soon as the discharge has started in one tube, a voltage gradient arises between the cathode and anode so that the other does not come into operation.
If the first rectifier fails for any reason, the full transformer voltage is transferred to the second rectifier, so that it is ignited and the operation of the rectifier system does not suffer. It is obvious that more than two rectifiers can be connected in parallel to increase operational reliability.
