Abstract

Die vorliegende Erfindung beschäftigt sich mit der Herstellung von Schäumen aus pflanzenbasierten Fasern, die im Zuge eines Zellstoffherstellungsprozess gewonnen werden. Die Herstellungsmethode umfasst das Anrühren einer teigartigen Masse, bestehend aus Wasser, Zellstofffasern, Hefe, sowie einem oder mehreren Mono- und/ oder Oligosacchariden. Besonders geeignet sind Glucose, Xylose, Saccharose und Fructose sowie deren Oligosaccharide. Die in der Masse enthaltene Hefe fermentiert die darin enthaltenen Saccharide unter aeroben Bedingungen zu Kohlendioxid. Das entstehende Kohlendioxid führt zu einer Volumensexpansion der Masse. Nach Trocknung der Masse wird ein poröses Material mit geringer bis mittler Dichte enthalten, das in Sportgeräten und Automobilkomponenten verwendet werden kann.The present invention is concerned with the production of foams from plant-based fibers obtained in the course of a pulp production process. The production method involves mixing a dough-like mass consisting of water, cellulose fibers, yeast, and one or more mono- and/or oligosaccharides. Glucose, xylose, sucrose and fructose as well as their oligosaccharides are particularly suitable. The yeast contained in the mass ferments the saccharides contained therein to carbon dioxide under aerobic conditions. The resulting carbon dioxide leads to a volume expansion of the mass. Once the mass dries, it contains a low to medium density porous material that can be used in sports equipment and automotive components.
