Device for electro-foot reflex zone stimulation
The invention relates to a device for electrofusion reflex zone stimulation consisting of power supply, control electronics and n electrodes. The foot reflex zones are stimulated with electric current. The stimulation of foot reflex zones through pressure (acupressure) and through massage has been known for thousands of years.
In the context of the present invention, a device or a family of devices for electrofusion reflex zone stimulation is now proposed.
These are devices for applying a changing in current and time current flow in particular in the field of foot reflexology, simple, easy-to-carry devices to complex systems with superimposed computer for data processing for medical biological research.
According to the invention, the device is realized in that the n electrodes are fastened on an electrode carrier which is adapted to the foot and are arranged corresponding to the foot reflex zones and these are controlled with any desired electrical signals.
The device for electrofussive reflex stimulation consists in its core structure of n electrodes, which are mounted on a foot adapted (ergonomic) support and arranged according to the Fußreflexzonen and are controlled by means of an electronic circuit.
Another (n + 1.) Electrode (reference electrode) can be located in the area of the arrangement of the n electrodes or in the vicinity of the foot or anywhere on the body. The reference electrode can also be held by the subject in one hand or is attached to the body of the subject as an adhesive, clamping or suction electrode. These electrodes are pressed onto the skin.
The controller and the power supply can now either completely or partially in this foot part or in an external device part, which is then connected by a cable to the foot part, are housed.
The power supply will be implemented with batteries or accumulators to avoid problems with safety regulations for medical and therapeutic devices.
The simplest device will be a foot device with built-in power supply, control electronics and simple controls.
The electrodes of the n-electrode array are arbitrarily shaped pieces of metal (e.g., pin-shaped pins of different length, diameter, and head) which are connected to the electronics on one side and pressed against the skin on the other side.
The pins may be round or rectangular and at the contact point in a conical or truncated cone shape, or in pyramidal or truncated pyramidal shape
T04 / fh / 14.11.2005! be executed. The support surface may have a crown to protect against injury. It may also be useful to make the part resting on the skin easily replaceable in order to make the transition to the skin of the application accordingly. For skin compatibility purposes, the side that comes into contact with the skin should be gold plated or made from another non-oxidizing, highly conductive and skin-friendly material.
Since the electrodes must be connected to the electronics, a plug connection makes sense, as this facilitates the interchangeability of the part resting on the skin.
The electrode position is chosen according to the arrangement of the foot reflex zones known from medical literature. The setting of a complex electrode current (electrode voltage) -time profile can be done in the form of a program control. An interface to a PC makes sense, where the excitation profile is specified via a user interface.
At the same time, logging of the treatment can take place.
For simple devices, the driving of the electrodes can be done by means of a simple microcontroller, by oscillators, counter circuits, astable multivibrators, voltage controlled oscillators and the like.
The electrode carrier can be designed in the form of a shoe insert, in the form of a shoe or another tread surface. Thus, e.g. An orthodontic cast can be used to produce an exact image of the foot surface on which a Flexiprint, on which the electrodes and their circuitry are located, can be applied. Another possibility of realizing the electrodes are pins with spring inserts, which are attached to the electrode carrier.
To control continuous signals, alternating signals and burst signals can be used.
It is known from the literature that the individual organs are particularly stimulated by certain frequencies (F.-J. Begher: Introduction to electroacupuncture according to Voll, Uelzen M L Verlag, 1994). Particularly suitable for this purpose is the amplitude (AM) and angle modulation (FM, PM). Higher frequencies generate displacement currents and thus allow a current flow through galvanically poorly conducting zones. If you use single-pulse control, you can of course in principle generate any waveform, but obvious are trapezoidal, triangular, bell or parabolic. Again, the generation of the signals by a microcomputer is the simplest.
Depending on the application, different electrodes are stimulated. So, for example, for the stimulation of the knee, only a small area will be electrified and another area will be stimulating the lungs and bronchi.
The selection can be made via a program memory in the microprocessor. The selection of the program may e.g. via keys. On
T04 / fh / 14.11.2005 2 a small display (eg seven-segment display) shows the selected program. Overstimulation should be avoided. This can be achieved by a timer, which is set accordingly. For general stimulation, the zone that is stimulated is constantly changed. The current density should meet the recommendations of electrotherapy. It is also recommended to limit the length of time that a unipolar current flows, otherwise galvanic effects will occur.
FIG. 1 shows the basic principle, FIG. 2 shows electrode shapes and FIG. 3 the attachment.
FIG. 1 shows the basic principle of a realization of the device for electrofusion reflex zone stimulation.
From a battery or an accumulator (5), the entire circuit is supplied via a main switch (8) and possibly a voltage stabilizer (16). A MikrocontroUer [mu] C (1) controls the complete process. The program can be selected via buttons (2, 3) (selection of points, intensity, time). Through a display (4, 5), the set program can be read. The current sources (13), which impress the current through the foot, are controlled via multiplexers (7, 8, 9) or analog switches (12), which are addressed via an address bus (6). A current source (13) may be e.g. be formed with a normally-on JFET and a resistor. On the electrode carrier (10), the electrodes (11) are attached. The reference point (14) is connected to the power source switches (12).
It should be noted that the reference point (14) need not be mounted on the electrode carrier (10). A voltage limiting element (15) protects the system from e.g. electrostatic discharges. The system may be extended by an interface (17) for communication with a higher level system.
FIG. 2 shows electrode shapes. From top to bottom you can see a conical, a narrow and a wide cylinder, a cylindrical with a conical depression, a crown, a ball (a cylinder can also be arbitrarily cambered) and one provided with several cones or pyramids Head.
FIG. 3 shows a sketch for the attachment of the electrode.
The spring is used to define the contact pressure.
