The invention relates to an internal combustion engine nit at least one in at least one bore of a housing, preferably a crankcase, rotatably mounted camshaft, wherein the bore is closed by a cover on the side facing away from the camshaft.
In the course of maintenance of internal combustion engine, especially for commercial vehicles, it is sometimes necessary to fix the camshaft in a defined position. For this purpose, special tools are usually used. If the gear drive is on the side of the gearbox, the gear wheels are not accessible during maintenance and the camshaft fixing must be on the side of the clutch.
However, this is usually relatively expensive.
The object of the invention is to avoid this disadvantage and to fix in the simplest possible way the camshaft during the performance of maintenance in a defined position.
According to the invention, this is achieved in that the cover has at least one maintenance fixing device for the camshaft, wherein it is preferably provided that the maintenance fixing device is formed by at least one projection, preferably a pin, of the cover, which in the maintenance state of the internal combustion engine in a corresponding recess, preferably an axial bore, the camshaft is inserted.
In order to achieve a rotational fixation of the crankshaft, recess and projection must be arranged eccentrically to the camshaft axis.
It is particularly advantageous
when the maintenance fixing device is arranged on a first end side of the cover facing away from the camshaft in the engine operating state, wherein preferably the cover can be fastened to the housing in the maintenance state about an axis normal to the camshaft axis by 180 °, so that the first end face faces the camshaft , By simply turning the lid can thus be carried out a fixation of the camshaft, wherein the projection engages in the recess. Own fastening devices for the mounting position of the lid can be saved if the lid has at least two holes for fastening screws, which are arranged symmetrically with respect to each other with respect to at least one axis. As a result, the conventional fastening screws can also be used in the mounting position of the lid.
It is particularly advantageous if the maintenance fixing device is connected captively, preferably integrally with the cover. Loss or misplacement of the maintenance fixing device can thus be excluded. On additional additional special tools for anti-rotation during assembly work can be omitted.
The invention will be explained in more detail below with reference to FIGS.
1 shows a crankcase of an internal combustion engine according to the invention in an oblique view, FIG. 2 shows the crankcase in a top view of the cover in an engine operating position, FIG. 3 shows the crankcase with cover in a section along the line III-III in FIG. 4 shows the crankcase in a plan view with the cover in an assembly position and FIG. 5 shows the crankcase and the cover in a section according to the line VV in FIG.
4th
The crankcase 1 has at least one bore 2 for a camshaft bearing 4 designed as a tunnel bearing for a camshaft 3. The bore 2 is closed on the outer side facing away from the camshaft 3 with a cover 5 which is fastened to the crankcase 1 via fastening screws 6. The cover 5 is formed substantially flat and has a first and a second substantially mutually parallel end face 7, 8.
On the first end face 7, a maintenance pin 9 forming a protruding pin 10 is arranged. The pin 10 is formed integrally with the lid 5 in an advantageous manner. The camshaft 3 has an axial bore 11 whose diameter D is dimensioned so that the pin 10 can be inserted into the bore 11.
In order to achieve a rotational fixation, pin 10 and axial bore 11 must be eccentric with respect to the camshaft axis 12 and be equally spaced therefrom. The mounting holes 13 of the lid 5 are arranged symmetrically with respect to an axis 14 normal to the camshaft axis 12.
If a fixation of the camshaft 3 is desired in the course of maintenance work, this can be achieved by simply turning the cover 5, the cover 5 being rotated about the axis 14 by 180 ° until it reaches the position shown in FIGS 5 assumes the position shown. The first end face 7 of the cover 5 is thus in the assembly position shown in FIGS. 4 and 5, the camshaft 3 faces, so that the pin 10 can be inserted into the axial bore 11.
After fastening the cover 5 by means of the fastening screws 6, the camshaft 3 is thus held against rotation in the predefined position in the crankcase 1. Because the maintenance fixing device 9 is designed to be captive with the lid 5, no additional special tools are required, which can optionally be laid. Thus, the cost and time of maintenance can be reduced.
