<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
leitender Verbindung steht.

Device for placing gramophones and phonographs at predetermined
Points.
The present invention has means for placing gramophones and phonographs at predetermined points, i.e. H. when the stylus has reached a predetermined point in the recording, to the subject. This is done according to the invention in such a way that the stylus, as soon as it reaches a certain point of the recording, comes into contact with an adjustable arm, whereby an electrical line is closed via an electromagnet, the armature of which then applies the brake.
In the drawing, Fig. 1 is a front view of the adjustable part, Fig. 2 is a plan view of the brake, Fig. 3 is a section along the line A-A of Fig. 2 and Fig. 4 is a plan view of the entire device with electrical release. Fig. 5 is a front view of Fig. 2 and Figs. 6 and 7 show details.
The displaceable part shown for example in FIGS. 1 and 4 consists of part a which is hinged at a2 to a support a1 on the upper surface of the cover of the gramophone.
Any brake can be used, but the one shown in FIGS. 2 to 7 deserves preference. In this, a lever g3 is rotatable on a vertical projection w1 of a plate W2. The lever has a projection 12 on its front lever which
EMI1.1
is lifted, the arm becomes free and rotates under the action of the spring w4 until it comes into contact with the edge of the gramophone disc or phonograph cylinder and brings it to a standstill.
The most practical form of the adjustable part consists of a simple lever or arm, as indicated at a FIGS. If not needed, this arm can be brought into a horizontal position so that it is no longer in the way. An electromagnet k, FIGS. 2 and 3, is used, to the armature of which a rod j3 is attached.
The rod goes through the top of the housing and is under the end of arm j4. arranged on a shaft j5 to which the above-mentioned lever g3 is also attached. The upward movement of the armature lifts the end of the arm j4, whereby the shaft j6 is rotated and the arm g3 is adjusted so that it releases the arm g3 against rotation. So that the line remains open when the brake is not engaged, a current connection piece l is provided, which is only applied to the arm 103 when it is engaged, as shown in FIG. 3, so that when the tone arm x touches the lever a the line is closed and the magnet is excited. The current connection piece 1 can form part of the plate 1 'which is fastened to the plate wll but is insulated therefrom.
The circuit can be clearly seen from Fig. 4, where 1 denotes the battery in the housing of the device, which is conductively connected via a strip 2 to the plate W2, which is again connected to the arm tc3 in
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
conductive connection. From the arm to8 the current goes through the current connection piece J! on the plate 1 'and through the wire 3 to the electromagnet. The current is closed through the stylus by means of a conductor 4 which is connected on the one hand to the stylus and on the other hand to the electromagnet. The return line 5 is connected to the adjustable stop and the other pole of the battery.
When adjusting the device, the desired point of contact is established by setting the tone arm to the last line of the recording and the rotatable arm is then brought into such a position that it comes into contact with the stylus when it reaches the said point.
PATENT CLAIMS:
Device for placing gramophones and phonographs at predetermined points with the aid of electrical current connectors, characterized by a rotatable arm (a) connected to one pole of a power source, which can be adjusted independently of the record and its rotation and which is connected to the other pole of the power source connected tonearm (x) comes into contact at the end of the playing time to which the device has been set, so that thereby a line is closed and a brake is activated by energizing an electromagnet.
