The outer roll c made of nickel silver or another suitable metal fits tightly on the tube a. After the tube c is placed on the tube a, the mandrel is brought between two dies, through which the handle is given the desired final shape. As a result of the compression, the tube c assumes the shape of the dies as the soft metal a expands in the tube c. Since the soft metal adapts to the shape of the outer tube, it securely connects the latter to the mandrel. The end of the handle opposite the knife blade is closed and the excess protruding edges of the handle are then removed.

The handle can be flat or provided with any pattern. The dents in the pattern help secure the outer tube c to the tube a (see Figures 14 and 15).

The pipe a is expediently made in long pieces from which the necessary pipe lengths are cut. Instead of a single piece, the inner tube can also be made from several parts (Fig. 3-5). The cross-section of the dies is expediently the same at all points, so that the metal is evenly distributed and a strong grip is obtained.

The cross-sections shown in FIGS. 14 and 15 at two different points have the same circumference. In all cases, the tube a is dimensioned in such a way that its metal completely covers the dies at all points.
