   Eine Anzahl von Rechenmaschinen, insbesondere nach dem Thomas'schen System sind mit zwei Zählworken ausgestattet, von denen das eine die Einzelprodukte, das zweite deren   Summe   anzeigt. Höchst störend in der Handhabung dieser Maschine ist der Umstand, dass beide   Zählwerke   ziemlich weit voneinander entfernt liegen, weil der das zweite Zählwerk betätigende Mechanismus :

Um dies ermöglichen zu   können,   sind zwischen den beiden Zählwerken keine Antriebs- und Übertragungseinrichtungen   bezw. keine wie   immer gearteten, sich drehende Bestandteile der Rechenmaschine angeordnet. Hiedurch ist es möglich, die   Linealbreite   nahezu auf das Mass des doppelten   Durchmessers   der   Ziffernschcibe   eines Zählwerkes herabzusetzen   bezw.   zwei schmale Lineale unmittelbar nebeneinander anzuordnen, wodurch die gelenkigen Kupplungen nach dem alten   System übernüssig werden.   



   In der Zeichnung ist der Erfindungsgegenstand in einem Ausführungsbeispiel an einer Thomas'schen Rechenmaschine mit zwei Zählwerken dargestellt, wobei für jedes Zählwerk eine Schaltzylinderreihe gedacht ist. Es kann jedoch die Erfindung auch für jede
