Process for the production of a leather cleaning agent.
The common leather cleaning agents and preservatives have an ointment-like consistency and must therefore be shipped and stored in tinned or glazed cans or in tin tubes, the cost of which is very high compared to the content. Furthermore, the preparations dry up to a solid mass and become unusable if the container is not firmly closed again after each use, which is very often neglected. It therefore appears to be desirable to produce a leather cleaning agent in solid form, which can be put on the market in a simple paper envelope and does not undergo any change in open beds.
The invention now relates to a method for producing such a cleaning agent and consists in using saponifiable wax or a mixture of waxes or bitumen (i.e. earth wax obtained from brown coal) or else a mixture of wax,

Finally, it is noted that the use of wax as a component of solid leather polishing agents has already been proposed, but since no alkali was added, the product here was not soluble in water.
On the other hand, the suggestion has already been made to treat carnauba wax with alkali, but this was about the production of solutions and not of solid cleaning agents.
In addition, a glycerine additive has not yet been used in solid cleaning agents and this has the effect that when lying in the air it does not dry out and become unusable.
PATENT CLAIMS:
1. A process for the production of a solid cleaning agent for leather using wax and alkali, characterized in that molten saponifiable wax or bitumen is stirred with such a measured amount of a heated strongly alkaline solution that the mixture obtained after pouring into molds to form a hard mass solidified.
