<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
gegebenen Druckraum 11.
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

The invention relates to an auxiliary power-assisted actuating device for a clutch between the engine and transmission in a motor vehicle, in which a master piston acting counter to a return spring and an output pressure space adjoining it on the front side are provided in a master cylinder and are connected to a pressure chamber via a hydraulic pressure line is connected to a slave cylinder, in which a slave piston connected to the clutch via mechanical transmission elements acts to actuate the clutch, in which a clutch actuating force introduced into the master cylinder can also be hydraulically supported by means of a servo device, a pressure supply system having a hydraulic pump and also in the master cylinder a servo pressure chamber limited at the front by the rear of the master piston,
furthermore, a control piston which plunges into a rear blind bore in the master piston and is axially displaceable by an actuating device for clutch actuation and a control chamber.
From DE 38 39 318 A1 a hydraulic clutch actuation device is known, in which a conventional master cylinder is provided with a master piston acting therein against a return spring which, when a clutch pedal is actuated, the hydraulic oil enclosed in an adjoining outlet pressure chamber via a pressure line into the pressure chamber of a Slave cylinder displaces, whereby a slave piston arranged there and connected to the clutch by transmission elements is displaceable in the sense of a clutch actuation.
Part of this known clutch actuation device is a servo device effective in the slave cylinder. A control piston acted upon by a return spring can dip into a blind hole in the slave piston, with a control piston, which is in the basic position at a stop and in the basic position at a stop and is immersed in the blind hole, and which emerges from a hydraulic pump and leads to an oil reservoir returning servo oil flow can flow unthrottled through the slave cylinder.
This servo oil flow leads inside the slave cylinder via a servo pressure chamber supplied by the hydraulic pump, which, when the control piston is not actuated, communicates via an annular gap with the blind hole in the slave piston and this in turn communicates with a control chamber via a connecting channel that is branched off centrally at the bottom, and which permanently communicates with the oil reservoir via a return line stands. As soon as the control piston in the slave cylinder is moved from the master cylinder for clutch actuation, this plunges into the slave piston and closes the connecting channel there with a ball. As a result, the delivery pressure of the hydraulic pump in the servo pressure chamber acts as a force support.
Although this solution is to be rated positively, it has the disadvantage that the slave cylinder has to be somewhat larger than usual, but usually the necessary installation space is not available for such an enlarged slave cylinder.
Another type of auxiliary power-assisted actuating device for a clutch is known from DE 4237852 A1. The invention is based on this. In contrast to the solution of the previously discussed DE 3839318 A1, this known actuating device has a servo device which is combined with the master cylinder and by means of which a clutch actuating force introduced in the master cylinder can be transmitted in a hydraulically assisted manner. First of all, it should be noted that with this solution for introducing the clutch actuation force into the master cylinder, not the clutch pedal but only an electric stepping motor is provided, which receives its control commands from an electronic control device operating in a manner dependent on the operating parameters. This is not necessarily advantageous for a number of reasons.
Part of the servo device here is a comparatively complex pressure oil supply system, consisting of a motor-driven hydraulic pump that feeds a pressure vessel from which the servo device parts inside the master cylinder can be supplied with pressure oil. In the master cylinder, these are essentially a servo pressure chamber arranged behind the master piston, a control piston which plunges into a blind bore on the rear of the master piston and is axially displaceable by the electric stepper motor for clutch actuation, and a control chamber. The latter is connected to an oil reservoir via a relief line.
The control piston has an annular collar between two annular grooves, the upper annular groove communicating with the pressure vessel via a transverse bore and an outer annular groove on the master piston, while the lower annular groove on the control piston and a valve chamber in front of the control piston communicate via a transverse bore and an annular groove on the outside communicated with the discharge line on the master piston. The ring-
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
In its basic position, the collar on the control piston prevents pressure oil from passing into a transverse bore in the master piston, which communicates with the servo pressure chamber behind the master piston via a connecting bore.
As soon as the control piston is axially adjusted by a precisely defined amount for clutch actuation from this basic position by the stepper motor, pressure oil enters the servo pressure chamber, causing the master piston to be axially displaced and the clutch to be actuated via the slave cylinder. If you look at the internal structure of the master cylinder, you can see that it is relatively complicated. If one adds the costs for the stepper motor and its control, there are manufacturing costs for the entire master cylinder system, which are usually hardly justifiable.
Based on this prior art, it is therefore the object of the invention to provide an auxiliary power-assisted actuating device for a clutch which is simpler in construction and less expensive to manufacture and also permits the driver to directly influence the manner in which the clutch is actuated.
This object is achieved according to the characterizing part of claim 1.
Accordingly, the invention is characterized by such a servo device in which the control piston is axially displaceable from the clutch pedal or a pneumatic actuating device for clutch actuation in the master piston and in which to form a servo oil circuit - in the master cylinder the servo pressure limited at the front by the rear of the master piston. space at the rear is delimited by an intermediate wall, in addition there is a control chamber delimited from the servo pressure chamber by the intermediate wall, further - the servo pressure chamber is connected to the pressure outlet of the hydraulic pump via a pressure line and the control chamber is connected to the suction inlet of the hydraulic pump via a return line,
and in addition - the servo pressure chamber communicates with the blind hole there via a control channel in the master piston and this in turn communicates with the control chamber via a channel inside the control piston, the oil flow in the aforementioned servo oil circuit being unthrottled when the control piston is not actuated, but into the blind hole when the control piston is actuated this can be increasingly throttled at a defined point and a servo pressure acting on the master piston to assist actuation can be built up in the servo pressure chamber.
The master cylinder equipped with the servo device according to the invention can be easily arranged in the vehicle in the area of the clutch pedal. It is comparatively simple and inexpensive to manufacture and guarantees trouble-free work. The slave cylinder arranged after the master cylinder is of conventional design and can therefore be installed in the area of the clutch as usual. The servo device according to the invention results in a sensitive conversion of the actuating movement initiated by the driver by depressing the clutch pedal or by an electronic control device via a pneumatic actuation in the control piston into a highly effective supporting actuation of the master piston and thus ultimately also of the clutch.
The solution according to the invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the drawing.
FIGS. 1 to 3 each show an exemplary embodiment of the invention in a schematic form, the same or corresponding parts being drawn with the same reference numerals for better understanding.
In the drawing, only the pressure plate is shown of a drive connection between a drive motor and a gearbox producing or interrupting clutch 1 in a motor vehicle. An auxiliary power-assisted actuation device is assigned to clutch 1.
This has a master cylinder 2, a slave cylinder 3 and an auxiliary power generating servo device of the type according to the invention. A master piston 4 is arranged axially displaceably in the master cylinder 2. In its basic or starting position, this is pressed against an annular stop 7 with the edge region of its rear end face 6 under the action of a return spring 5. The return spring 5 is arranged in an outlet pressure chamber 8 of the master cylinder 2, which is delimited at the rear by the front end face 9 of the master piston 4 and at the front by the front end wall 2/1 of the master cylinder 2. The return spring 5 extends between the end face 9 of the master piston 4 and the front end wall 2/1 of the master cylinder 2.
The outlet pressure chamber 8 of the master cylinder 2 is in permanent communication with an input of the slave cylinder 3 via a hydraulic connection line 10

given pressure chamber 11. By means of the hydraulic oil pushed into this, a slave piston 12 can be axially displaced for actuation of the clutch 1, which piston is transmitted to the disengaging elements of the clutch 1, for example by means of mechanical transmission elements 13. B. acts on the pressure plate. When the clutch 1 is actuated, the enclosed spaces 8, 10, 11 have a primary pressure of, for example, 30 bar, which essentially depends on the clutch internal forces.
According to the invention, the servo device consists of a hydraulic pump 14, which is integrated on the pressure and suction side into a servo oil circuit leading through the master cylinder 2. The hydraulic pump 14 is connected with its pressure outlet 15 via a pressure line 16 to a servo pressure chamber 17, which is delimited in the master cylinder 2 at the rear by the front side 18 of an intermediate wall 19 and at the front by the rear end face on the master piston 4.
This servo pressure chamber 17 communicates permanently via an internal piston piston channel 20 with a central blind bore 21 inside the internal piston piston, into which a control piston 22 is immersed, and later on via an internal piston piston channel 23 with a relief chamber 24 which is provided in the master cylinder 2 behind the partition 19 and via a return line 25 is permanently connected to the suction inlet 26 of the hydraulic pump 14.
The channel 20 is realized in the master piston 4 by an axially parallel bore 20/1 and a perpendicular to this transverse bore 20/2, which opens laterally into the central blind hole 21, there directly above an annular, flat control surface 21/1. The channel 23 is realized in the control piston 22 by means of a coaxial blind bore 23/1 drilled from the front to the rear and a transverse bore 23/2 branching off from it laterally, which remains connected to the control chamber 24 in every position of the control piston 22. The control piston 22 penetrates - in each case centrally - first a rear cover 27 of the master cylinder 2, then the control chamber 24 delimited to the rear by this, then the intermediate wall 19, then the servo pressure chamber 17 and, with its front end section, finally plunges into the master piston with little leakage. internal blind hole 21 a.
If the control piston 22 is in the unactuated rest or
Basic position, its front flat annular end face 22/1 is spaced by such a dimension X from the parallel parallel blind hole control surface 21/1 and the mouth cross section of the channel 20 opening into the blind hole 21; 20/1, 20/2 at least largely turned on, so that the oil flow conveyed by the hydraulic pump 14 can be passed through this control region practically unthrottled.
The auxiliary power support is only by an axial displacement of the control piston 22 deeper into the blind hole 21 and an associated control of the cross section of the mouth of the channel 20; 20/2 and reduction of the gap dimension X to approximately zero in the blind hole 21, because then the oil flow in the servo oil circuit is more or less throttled and the pressure in the control pressure chamber 17 is almost completely converted into a supporting actuation of the master piston 4.
The introduction of force into the master cylinder 2 and there the control piston 22 for actuating the clutch 1 takes place in the case of FIGS. 1 and 2 exclusively from a clutch pedal 28 directly or via at least one mechanical transmission member 29 which, for. B. immersed in an actuation trough 30 at the free end of the control piston. In the case of FIG. 3, that version is shown in which - in addition to a clutch pedal 28 - actuation of the control piston 22 is also possible by means of a controlled compressed air supply for automated clutch operations. For this purpose, a pressure cylinder 31 is provided on the outside of the rear cover 27 of the master cylinder 2, for. B. grown in which a combined with the control piston 22 compressed air piston 32 is effective.
This delimits a pressure chamber 33 which is supplied with compressed air at a pressure of, for example, compressed air from a compressed air source 34 via a line 35 with a built-in switching valve 36. B. 8 bar can be supplied when control electronics 37 has given a command to the electromagnetic switching valve 36 via a control line 38 and this has thus been switched from its shut-off position to its open position. As soon as the auxiliary power support is no longer necessary, the switching valve 36 is switched back into its shut-off position and the pressure chamber 33 is connected to the atmosphere. A return of the control piston 22 after the end of the action of the rear force from a displacement position into its rest or
The basic position is provided by the oil pressure effective in the servo oil circuit, but is also supported by a return spring 39, which is located at the bottom of the blind bore 21 inside the master cylinder - immersing in this - and

the other in an enlarged section 23/3 of the control piston internal blind bore 23/1 - immersed in this - is supported on an annular shoulder. The restoring spring 39, which is not absolutely necessary for the said return of the control piston 22, can be selected with regard to its compressive force and, in the case of FIG. 1, 2 transmits it mechanically by the driver via the clutch pedal 28 or in the case of FIG. 3 the pneumatic support before the hydraulic servo support takes effect.
The compressive force of the return spring 39 is therefore also decisive for the effort required to reduce the gap dimension X accordingly in order to bring about hydraulic servo assistance. For applications in civil vehicles, e.g. B. trucks or buses, the pressure force of the return spring 39 z. B. set to 150 N. In military vehicles, however, this pressure force can be increased to a higher value, e.g. B. 200 N can be set.
In contrast, the restoring force of the compression spring 5 must be set so that the master piston 4 - when the clutch pedal 28 is not actuated or the pneumatic auxiliary force release is ineffective (FIG. 3) and consequently the control piston 22 is in the basic position - against the oil pressure effective in the pressure chamber 17 is pressed against the stop 7.
This ensures that when the master piston 4 returns from a displacement position close to its rest position, its front edge 9 opens a relief bore 41 in the outer wall 40 of the master cylinder 2 (also called sniffer bore in technical jargon) and thereby the one in the pressure chambers 8 and 11 and the pressure line 10 effective primary pressure can be reduced to atmospheric pressure via a relief line 42 connected to the relief bore 41 into an expansion tank 43.
The effective servo pressure in the servo oil circuit with servo support can e.g. B. 100 bar and should be kept largely constant. For this purpose, a pressure relief valve 44 is provided within the servo oil circuit between the pressure and suction side. In the case of FIGS. 1 and 3, this is built into the intermediate wall 19, connecting the control pressure chamber 17 to the relief chamber 24 in a permeable manner. In the case of FIG. 2, the pressure limiting valve 44 is installed in a bypass line 45 which connects the pressure line 16 to the return line 25 and is permeable to the return line 25. The hydraulic pump 14 providing the oil flow in the servo oil circuit can, for. B. may be formed by a vane pump which is provided exclusively for this purpose and is driven by the internal combustion engine.
Alternatively, a tandem vane pump can be used, part of which, for. B. is effective in a steering aid group. As an alternative to the vane cell type, the hydraulic pump 14 could also be implemented by an oblique writing axial piston hydrostatic pump.
The function of the servo device according to the invention for actuating the clutch 1 is discussed in more detail below. When the control piston 22 is not actuated and in the rest position or basic position - as shown in the figures - the master piston 4 is pressed against the stop 7 in its basic position under the action of the return spring 5.
The control piston 22 is immersed by the smallest amount in the blind hole 21 in the master piston 4, whereby the dimension X between the control surfaces 21/1 and 22/1 has its maximum and the opening cross section of the channel 20 at the entry point of the transverse bore 20/2 in the Blind hole 21 is most open and therefore the oil flow conveyed by the hydraulic pump 14 into the servo pressure chamber 17 flows practically unrestricted via the channel 20, the free section of the blind hole 21 and the control channel 23 to the control chamber 24 and from there back to the suction inlet 26 of the hydraulic pump 14 can.
However, as soon as the control piston 22 - in the case of FIGS. 1 and 2 by the driver by stepping on the clutch pedal 28 mechanically or in the case of FIG. 3 at the command of the control electronics 37 after opening the switching valve 36 by the compressed air then effective in the pressure chamber 33, pneumatically - Is actuated, due to the displacement of the control piston 22 into the blind hole 21 in the master piston 4, the dimension X is reduced accordingly, and the outlet cross section of the channel 20; 20/2 increasingly controlled, with the result that the oil flow within the master piston 4 is increasingly throttled with increasing depth of penetration of the control piston 22 and consequently a correspondingly increasing servo pressure builds up in the servo pressure chamber 17, which accordingly acts on the master piston 4 becomes supportive. The maximum servo pressure of e.g.
B. 100 bar is effective when the gap dimension X is the lowest.

As soon as the force on the control piston 22 subsides or is completely terminated, which is necessary for closing the clutch 1, the return spring 5 guides the master piston 4 back from its previously shifted position in the direction of its basic position to the stop 7.
Likewise, the control piston 22 is again moved in the direction of its basic position, specifically by the hydraulic force acting on its end face 22/1 and the mechanical force of the return spring 39.
The provision of the servo device according to the invention enables a very sensitive actuation of the clutch 1, as well as its holding in sliding intermediate positions on the basis of an actuation of the control piston 22 which requires only little force.
