<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

The invention relates to a device for cutting a glass sheet with the aid of a cutting tool and for removing a coating applied to the glass sheet with the aid of a grinding tool which removes the coating from the glass sheet in strips lying on both sides of the scoring lines and running parallel to it Support for the glass sheet to be processed, a bar which is guided so as to be movable over the support at the edges thereof, and with a cutting tool and a grinding tool which can be adjusted along the bar.
A device of the type mentioned is known from DE-41 18 241 A1.
The device known from DE-41 18 241 A1 is intended to remove a coating from glass sheets in the areas intended for the bonding of the glass sheets in the production of insulating glass panes. Furthermore, DE-41 18 241 A 1 has the task of combining this preparation with the cutting of glass panes to the desired formats of glass sheets. According to DE-41 18 241 A1, the procedure is such that the coated glass panes, from which the coated glass sheets are to be cut, are decoated over a predetermined width by a grinding device along a predetermined width before being divided into the glass sheets.
It can be provided that the contours are traversed simultaneously with a grinding device and a cutting tool, which are connected in series, in accordance with the pattern for dividing the glass panes into glass sheets. Different designs are proposed for carrying out the method known from DE-41 18 241 A1. Thus, an embodiment is proposed with two bars that can be moved independently of one another for the cutting tool and for the grinding device, which can be coupled to one another. The cutting tool should remain out of operation during the grinding process. After the grinding process has been completed, the bar is set down with the grinding device and the bar with the cutting tool follows the previously ground contours.
DE-41 18 241 A1 also discloses an embodiment in which both the cutting and the grinding tools are mounted on a beam. In a further embodiment of DE-41 18 241 A1 two mutually parallel bars are provided, the cutting tool being guided on one and the grinding tool being adjustable on the other. It is also proposed in DE-41 18 241 A1 to operate both tools simultaneously or in succession. This is only possible to a limited extent, since in DE-OS 41 18 241 the cutting device on the one hand and the grinding device on the other are attached to the beam via separate brackets.
It is therefore not possible in all cases of movement (whereby movements on two dimensions, as is usual with glass cutting devices, in order to avoid empty strokes) can be carried out by first grinding and then cutting.
For the rest, the device known from DE-41 18 241 A1 is problematic insofar as both tools do not lie in a line when scoring and grinding transverse to the longitudinal extent of the beam. For this reason, it is also not recognizable how the scoring and grinding can be carried out in a single operation using the device known from DE-41 18 241 A1.
The object of the invention is to provide a device with which cutting and stripping with a high clock frequency is possible and with which the technical complexity of the device is as low as possible.
This object is achieved in a generic device in that the cutting tool and the grinding tool are mounted on a common carrier which can be moved on the beam and in that the grinding tool is fastened to an auxiliary carrier which can be pivoted about an axis oriented perpendicular to the support.
The device according to the invention can be used in such a way that the scoring of the glass sheet is carried out immediately before the coating is removed, or that the coating is removed immediately before the scoring of the glass sheet. The last-mentioned embodiment is preferred when working "in oil", ie using a cutting aid, since the cutting aid remaining on the glass sheet may adversely affect stripping.
In the device according to the invention, the grinding or polishing wheel can always be aligned so that its axis of rotation is aligned parallel to the axis of rotation of the cutting wheel of the cutting tool and thus perpendicular to the direction of travel thereof. A separate motor is preferably provided for driving the grinding tool.
According to a proposal of the invention, the grinding tool can be pivoted together with the cutting tool. In this case, a separate drive motor does not have to be provided for the swivel drive of the cutting tool and the grinding tool, but a single drive that swivels both tools is sufficient.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
To ensure that the areas next to the scoring line can be stripped over the entire length of the scoring line, but also only there, it can be provided according to the invention that the grinding tool can be lifted away from the support independently of the cutting tool.
In this way, for example, the grinding tool can be lowered at the beginning of a scoring line to be produced, whereupon the carrier of the grinding tool and the cutting tool begins to move in the direction of the scoring line to be produced. As soon as the cutting tool is at the beginning of the scoring line to be produced, this is also lowered and now produces the scoring line in the area already stripped. At the end of the scoring line to be produced, the grinding tool is raised and the cutting tool is continued until the end of the scoring line.
It is thus easy to prevent parts of a glass sheet from being stripped in areas that do not lie in the area of a scribe line, since the removal of the coating on both sides of a scribe line can easily be interrupted by lifting off the grinding tool if one closes in the surface of the glass sheet of the scoring line to be produced, the transverse scoring line is reached and that the cutting of the glass sheet is continued until this end of the scoring line. This operation of the device of the invention is used when the grinding tool precedes the cutting tool.
If, however, the cutting tool precedes the grinding tool, the device according to the invention can be used in such a way that the scoring of a scoring line is stopped by lifting off the cutting tool if a scoring line running transversely to the scoring line to be produced is reached inside the surface of the glass sheet and that that Removal of the coating on both sides of the scoring line is continued until this end of the scoring line. This ensures that the area next to the entire length of the scoring line is stripped, even if it ends inside the surface of a glass sheet.
Further features and advantages of the invention result from the subclaims and the following description of an embodiment of the invention with reference to the drawings. 1 shows a plan view of a glass cutting table according to the invention, and FIG. 2 partially shows the carrier of the cutting tool and grinding tool on an enlarged scale.
A glass cutting table 1 shown in FIG. 1 has a support 2 for the glass sheet 3 to be processed. Guides 4 for a bar 5 are arranged on both sides of the support 2, along which the bar 5 is guided so as to be displaceable in the direction of the double arrow 6. The bar 5 in turn consists essentially of two parallel guide rails 7, on which a carrier 8 is guided in the direction of the double arrow 9.
A cutting tool 11 and a grinding tool 12 are rotatably or pivotably mounted on the carrier 8 about a common axis 10 which is oriented at right angles to the plane of the glass sheet.
The cutting tool 11 has a cutting wheel 14 which can be rotated about an axis 13 aligned parallel to the glass sheet plane, and the grinding tool 12 has a grinding or polishing wheel 16 which can be rotated about an axis 15 aligned parallel to the glass sheet plane. A drive motor (not shown) is connected to the axis 15 of the grinding wheel 16 and can, for example, be flanged directly to the housing 17 of the grinding tool 12 coaxially to the axis 15.
In operation, the axes 13 and 15 of the cutting wheel 14 and the grinding wheel 16 are always aligned parallel to one another and at a right angle to the feed direction (arrow 18).
In the exemplary embodiment shown in FIG. 2, the grinding tool 12 is rotatably mounted on the carrier 8 via its housing 17 and via a hollow shaft 19 about the axis 10. A shaft 20 of the cutting tool 11 is guided through the hollow shaft 19 of the grinding tool 12.
The shaft 20 of the cutting tool 11 and the hollow shaft 19 of the grinding tool 12 are mounted displaceably both in relation to one another and in relation to the carrier 8 in the direction of the axis 10. To move the cutting tool 11 and the grinding tool 12 in the direction of the axis 10, drive devices (not shown), for example pressure medium cylinders, are provided, so that the tools 11, 12 can be lowered onto the glass sheet 3 independently of one another or lifted away from it.
Separate devices, not shown, such as rack and pinion gears, can be provided for rotating the cutting tool 11 or for pivoting the grinding tool 12 about the axis 10, the control of the drive devices in this case having to be designed such that the axes 13 and 15 of the Tools 11 and 12 are aligned parallel to each other in use.
According to another embodiment, it can be provided that the shaft 20 of the cutting tool 11 and the hollow shaft 19 of the grinding tool 12 are coupled to one another in a rotationally fixed manner, the axes 13 and 15 of the tools 11 and 12 being aligned parallel to one another. The advantage of this embodiment is that only a single drive device has to be provided for rotating or pivoting the tools 11, 12.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
The cutting of a glass sheet and the removal of a coating applied to the glass sheet in a narrow, parallel area on both sides of the cutting line in a single operation can be carried out, for example, as follows with reference to FIG. 1.
In a first step before the cutting and the removal of the coating begins, a glass sheet 3 is fed in the direction of arrow 21 in the longitudinal direction onto the glass cutting table 1. The scribe lines 22 arranged transversely to the longitudinal direction are then produced and at the same time the coating in the area of the scribe lines 22 is removed by the grinding tool 12. This is done e.g. B. so that the grinding tool 12 leads the cutting tool 11 in the direction of movement of the carrier 8 transverse to the longitudinal extent of the glass cutting table 1. For this purpose, the grinding tool 12 is pivoted alternately about the axis 10 in the direction of the arrows 23 and 24.
At the same time, the cutting tool 11 is also rotated such that the axes 13, 15 of the tools 11, 12 are aligned parallel to the longitudinal extent of the glass cutting table 1 and transversely to the direction of movement of the carrier 8. A temporary lifting of the cutting tool 11 or the grinding tool 12 is not absolutely necessary here, since the tools can easily run out on the longitudinal edges 25 of the glass sheet 3.
The scribe lines 26, which are aligned parallel to the longitudinal extent of the glass cutting table 1 (arrow 21), are then produced, with scribe lines 26 already produced in FIG. 1 being shown with continuous lines and scribing lines 26 still to be produced in dashed lines. Since the scoring lines 26 end in the interior of the glass sheet 3 at transverse scoring lines 22, care must be taken that the scoring lines 26 on the one hand end exactly at the scoring lines 22 running transversely thereto and that on the other hand only the narrow area next to the scoring lines 26 is stripped. This is done in such a way that at the start 27 of a scoring line 26, the grinding tool 12 lifted off the glass sheet 3 is lowered onto the glass sheet 3 when the axis 15 of the grinding tool 12 is above the scoring line 22.
The carrier 8 then moves forward in the direction of the arrow 21 until the axis 13 of the cutting tool 11 is above the scoring line 22 and is then lowered. The carrier 8 then continues to move until the axis 15 of the grinding tool 12 at the end 28 of the scribe line 26, i. H. is located over another scoring line 22. The grinding tool 12 is lifted off the glass sheet 3 and the carrier 8 continues to move until the axis 13 of the cutting tool 11 is also above the scoring line 22. Now the cutting tool 11 is also lifted off the glass sheet 3 and the carrier 8 can be moved to the next scoring line 26 to be produced.
In summary, the invention can be represented as follows, for example:
In order to simplify and shorten the cutting of a glass sheet with the aid of a cutting tool and the removal of a coating applied to the glass sheet with the aid of a grinding tool, the scoring of the glass sheet and the removal of the coating are carried out in strips lying on both sides of the lines that run parallel to these performed in a single operation. In the device proposed for this purpose, the cutting tool and the grinding tool are mounted on a common support which can be moved on a beam above a support for the glass sheet. The grinding tool is attached to an auxiliary carrier which can be pivoted about the axis of the cutting tool oriented perpendicular to the support.
