   PATENT-AN SPRÜCHE :

Method for exhausting engine exhaust gases while submersibles are underwater.

The invention relates to such submersible boats which are driven during underwater travel by a prime mover whose exhaust gases cannot be condensed.
 EMI1.1
in the form of gas bubbles in regular intervals corresponding to the cycle of the relevant engine on the water surface. Experience has shown that the rise of the gas bubbles is now clearly perceptible on the surface of the water and thus provides the enemy ships with a reliable means of recognizing the presence of a submersible and drawing conclusions about the direction and speed of the boat. As a result, the enemy is in a position to take measures to repel the attack or to launch a counterattack.

The invention now aims to create a method for discharging the exhaust gases which makes it difficult for the enemy to recognize the direction of travel and the speed of the boat.

The invention consists in the fact that the exhaust gases stored in containers in a known manner are conducted outboard in relatively long time intervals. The gases are expediently discharged in irregular interstices and in such a way that the gases rise to the surface of the water, if possible in the form of a single gas bubble. These large gas bubbles, which become visible on the surface of the water at irregular intervals when this method is used, allow the presence of the boat to be recognized at the moment of ascent, but give no clues as to its direction and speed.

   PATENT APPROVALS:
1. A method for discharging the exhaust gases from engines during the underwater journey of submersible boats, characterized in that the exhaust gases stored in containers are directed outboard in larger temporal intervals.
