Zur Verwendung im Schul-, Vereins- und Leistungssport wurde schon eine Mehrzahl von Matten geschaffen. Alle sollen dem Turner bzw. Sportler beim Aufkommen auf den Boden eine genügend weiche Basis bieten, um Verletzungen zu vermeiden. Bei den bisher bekannten Matten wurde die Oberseite des Überzuges, die Aufsprungfläche, aus Nadelfilzen hergestellt. Derart ausgebildete Aufsprungflächen hatten zwar die notwendige Festigkeit, besitzen jedoch den Nachteil, daß sie sich beim Gleiten eines Körperteiles auf ihnen stark erhitzen und es daher zu Verbrennungen des Sportlers kommen kann.A number of mats have already been created for use in school, club and competitive sports. Die Erfindung hat es sich zum Ziel gesetzt, eine Matte zu schaffen, welche die angeführten Nachteile nicht aufweist, bei der demnach ein wesentliches Erhitzen nicht auftritt. Erreicht wird dieses Ziel dadurch, daß der obere Abschnitt des Überzuges aus einem Velours, insbesondere einem Kunststoffvelours besteht, der an seiner Unterseite mit dem aus Polyester bestehenden Gittergewebe vollflächig verbunden ist. Es hat sich bei durchgeführten Versuchen gezeigt, daß ein derartiger Velours sehr angenehme Gleiteigenschaften besitzt und sich wesentlich geringer als ein Nadelfilzbelag erhitzt. Besonders stark tritt dieser Effekt bei einem Kunststoffvelours auf. Beim Barfußtumen oder beim Benützen einer erfindungsgemäßen Matte mit Tum-oder Gymnastikschuhen, bleibt eine minimale Rutschphase aufrecht. Dies hat den wesentlichen Vorteil, daß die Fußsohle oder die Sohle des Sportschuhs nicht an der Oberfläche kleben bleibt, so wie dies bei Plastiküberzügen der Fall ist.
