Abstract

A hot-water storage tank is equipped with an expansion vessel 2, delimited by a diaphragm 4, for compensating thermally induced changes in volume of the stored water. In order to prevent a flow-free dead space, in which bacteria may collect, from being produced in the region of this expansion vessel 2, the expansion vessel 2 is delimited by the diaphragm 4 from a space 5 containing heatable storage water. This space may be the storage space 5 itself or may be formed by a separate container connected to the expansion vessel 2 and to the storage space 5.
