<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

The invention relates to a device for reading and / or marking tickets, ID cards etc., the tickets being fastened by means of fastening clips, for example to a piece of clothing of the cardholder, and being retractable through a mouthpiece with the aid of a transport mechanism into a reading / writing unit, and a Mounting bracket for use with such a device.
Devices are known in which a card is entirely drawn through a mouthpiece. This has the disadvantage that the ticket or authorization card can be lost relatively easily when inserted or ejected from the control device.
Furthermore, devices are known in which a card is only partially drawn in, so that it can be attached to, for example, a piece of clothing of the cardholder by means of a cord or the like. Although the card is protected against loss and operation is manageable, the device must be equipped in a relatively complicated manner in order to prevent the card from being torn out of the mouthpiece during the reading or checking process.
The object of the invention is therefore to improve a device of the type mentioned at the outset in such a way that measures for securing a ticket, ID card or the like are possible, while the transport mechanism for inserting the card can be made as simple as possible.
This object is achieved in that the mouthpiece has a device for releasing the fastening clip from the ticket.
This ensures easy handling, protects the card from loss, and still allows the card to be fully inserted into a control device.
The device for releasing the fastening clip preferably has an electromotive or magnetically actuatable plunger, by means of which a catch of the fastening clip can be released from the ticket.
A preferred fastening clip for use with a device according to the invention is characterized by a resiliently pretensioned catch which engages in a corresponding recess in the ticket in the rest position.
The catch can advantageously be formed on an arm of a lever, the second arm of which, in the rest position, extends at an acute angle to the plane of the ticket, the lever being pivotable against a cam of the mouthpiece by the second arm running up.
In a preferred embodiment it is provided that the catch is magnetic or is coupled to a magnet in a movement-locking manner, the catch being movable from its rest position into an open position releasing the ticket by means of a magnetic field.
The invention is explained below using an application example in a system for checking and labeling prepaid cards. The invention can also be used in any other system, for example in access control, in goods entry, etc.
Fig. 1 shows a plan view of a value card with a fastening clip, Fig. 2 shows a cross section through the card when inserted into a mouthpiece of a device for reading and labeling the card, Fig. 3 shows a cross section of another embodiment of a fastening clip in the closed 4 shows the fastening clip in the open state, and FIG. 5 shows a further variant of a fastening clip for a prepaid card.
1 shows the top view of one side of a value card (1). This page has a visually readable label (2), which contains the master information. This master information is, for example, the expiry date of the authorization card, the value, time of issue, etc. Furthermore, this data is also stored in the form of a visually readable bar code (2 '). When using the prepaid card (1), the consumed services are printed in a visually readable manner in each card control device. This is shown in the text lines (2 "). Furthermore, each text line is additionally identified by an embossing (3). This has the advantage that the number of debiting processes can be proven without any problems if the visually readable identification is manipulated.
The prepaid card (1) is connected to a cord via a fastening clip (4), which in turn can be fastened, for example, to an item of clothing of the cardholder. It is particularly advantageous here if the cord (5) opens into an automatic winding device, so that the card is normally visible and carried directly on the body. When in use, the cord (5) can then be pulled out of the winding device (not shown) and the card can thus be inserted into a mouthpiece (6) of the card control device. 2 shows this process schematically in cross section, only a few elements of the card control device being shown.
In this embodiment, the fastening clip (4) consists of a U-shaped plastic part, in which a catch (17) is resiliently pretensioned. The catch (17) is formed in one piece with the plastic part in a recess thereof, the connecting webs (2) acting as a torsion spring. The catch (17) engages in a rest position

This opens a locking slide (7) for the insertion slot of the mouthpiece. Infeed rollers (10) of a transport mechanism take the value card and pull it in the direction of the arrow (9). After the mounting bracket (4) has run up in the mouthpiece (6), a device for releasing the

Fastening clip operated by the prepaid card (1).
In the example shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, this consists in each case of a plunger (16) arranged above and below the plane of the card, which can be actuated by means of an electromagnet (8). By moving the plunger (16) towards the card level, the catch (17) is raised and the prepaid card is released. At the same time, the fastening clip is fixed and secured against unintentional pulling out of the mouthpiece (6). After reading, marking and possibly validating the value card (1), the transport mechanism or rollers (10) reinsert it into the fastening clip (4) against the direction of the arrow (9). The plungers (16) are then withdrawn and the card can be ejected again.
It is easy to see that the operation of a card control device is considerably simplified by such a device.
Figures 3 and 4 show a variant of a mounting bracket (4), wherein it is shown in Fig. 3 in the rest position. The catch (17) is formed on an arm of a lever. The second arm of the lever runs at an acute angle to the level of the prepaid card (1). When the value card (1) is inserted into the mouthpiece (6), this second arm runs on a cam (19), whereby the lever is rotated about the torsion spring (21) designed as an axis. As a result, the catch (17) releases from the recess (18) of the prepaid card and releases it.
When the value card (1) is ejected from the mouthpiece (6), it takes the fastening clip back with it, causing the lever to swing into its rest position and the catch (17) engaging in the recess (18) of the value card.
Fig. 5 shows another example of a mounting bracket (4) shortly before insertion into the mouthpiece (6). In this example, a permanent magnet (20) is let into the catch (17). In the mouthpiece there are magnets (20 ') on both levels of the value card (1), which magnetically raise the catch (17) when the fastening clip (4) is fully inserted, so that the value card (1) is released.
The examples shown here enable the fastening clip (4) to be released regardless of the position in which the value card (1) is inserted into the mouthpiece (6). It is of course also possible to design the fastening clip (4) and the device for opening the same in the mouthpiece in such a way that the clip only opens in a certain position. This is advantageous, for example, when the card control device requires a certain insertion position of the prepaid card.
In such a case, it is also possible to design the fastening clip (4) and the prepaid card so that the two elements can only be connected to one another in a certain position.
