Abstract

The invention describes a process for producing a door leaf with, in particular, linear decoration in at least one of two covering panels. A frame made up of a number of parts is adhesively bonded to one front panel, whereupon a core layer is inserted in a cavity enclosed by the frame and the second front panel is attached by adhesive bonding. Thereafter, a covering panel is applied to each front panel. Then, the covering panel is removed from the region of the decoration and a depression is produced in the front panel located therebeneath. A coating layer is then applied along the depressions, and projects beyond the region of the decoration. Subsequently, in side regions extending from side edges of the covering panels in the direction away from the depression, the coating layer is stripped until it is in alignment with a surface of the covering panel. Thereafter, at least one covering layer is rolled onto the remaining surface of the covering panel and the end edge of the coating layer and subsequently dried. <IMAGE>
