Abstract
The invention relates to a clamping wedge for mountain climbing, which can be inserted in several positions into rock fissures of different width and has two mutually opposite, T-shaped bearing surfaces 1, 2 converging together towards their ends, the two bearing surfaces 1, 2 converging together towards their wider ends 3, 4, the narrower ends 5, 6 of these bearing surfaces 1, 2 enclosing, on the clamping wedge side opposite their wider ends 3, 4, two bearing surfaces 7, 8, each of which lies opposite one of the two T-shaped bearing surfaces 2, 1, is narrower than the wider end 4, 3 of the same and forms with the same a pair of bearing surfaces converging towards the other enclosed bearing surface 8, 7, and in at least one of these surface pairs 1, 8 the T-shaped bearing surface 1 being of at least approximately concave design and the other bearing surface 8 opposite it being of at least approximately convex design. <IMAGE>

Forms pair of contact surfaces. The T-shaped support surface-l-has a concave curvature, and the narrow support surface --8-- opposite it has a convex curvature.
This design of the support surfaces - 1 and 8 - makes it easy to use the clamping wedge according to the invention in rock cracks which converge to a greater or lesser extent only in the load direction or also transversely to it, in such a way that a stable four-point contact of the crack walls takes place, the T- shaped support surface - l-provides three support points, and the opposite, narrower support surface --8-- the fourth. The same applies, but with five-point contact of the crack walls, applies to the newly formed contact surfaces --2 and 7--.
Between the broader ends - 3, 4- of the T-shaped support surfaces --1, 2-- there is a support surface --9-- on the clamping wedge side opposite the support surfaces --7 and 8--, which together with the Contact surface --7-- forms a third pair of unevenly wide, converging contact surfaces. The side surfaces of the clamping wedge according to the invention which are separated from one another by the support surfaces 1, 2, 7, 8 and 9 form with their sections - -10, 11 - which are further apart from one another and form a fourth pair of support surfaces and contain in their closer together sections - 12, 13-- a load sling bore --14--.
The load sling --15-- drawn into the clamping wedge by the latter and made of wire rope is closed by a compression sleeve --16--
EMI2.1
the load sling --15-- by means of a metered, approximately uniform friction between itself and the clamping wedge.
This embodiment can be produced very easily from a pentagonal extruded profile or T-profile.
To anchor the clamping wedge according to the invention in a crack, it is gripped by the user with one hand, rotated on the load sling-15-- into the desired application position, pushed into the crack at the intended placement point and by pulling on the load sling -15-- in this jammed.
