   Es sind Antikesselsteinmittel der Gerbstoffgrnppe bekannt (s. Fischer's Chemische   Technologie des Wassers,   1878, S. 237 bis 239, und D. R. P. Nr.   77124),   die die Kesselsteinbildung verhindern sollen. Doch enthalten diese Körper Karboxylgruppen, besitzen   a) so Säurccharakter.      Zur     Ausführung dos   beschriebenen Verfahrens setzt man die Tanningensäure direkt dem Speisewasser zu, oder man tränkt Korkstücke mit einer Auflösung von Tanningen- säure   und tut   diese in den Kessel, wie dies bei anderen solchen Mitteln schon bekannt ist. Hierbei erreicht man, dass sich die Tanningensäure nach und nach dem Wasser bei- mischt und so über langere Zeiträume hinaus, also auf grössere Wassermassen und damit
