<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

The invention relates to a plant pot, in particular for hydroponics, with an outer pot and a container which is open at the top and accommodates the substrate and has an essentially cylindrical wall and openings in the bottom, which preferably consists of
Plastic foam, such as polystyrene foam.
A disadvantage of the known plant pots of this type is that the plants grown in them have to be moved from time to time, which is not only tedious work, but is also often associated with damage to the roots.
From CH-PS No. 464595 a conical plant pot is known, the space available for the roots can be enlarged by attaching further plant pots. These known plant pots are to be screwed together after removal of the bases, so that there is again the risk of damage to roots. Since the known plant pots are conical, they become smaller with increasing height below, so that your standing area is adversely affected in stability with increasing height of combined pots. Finally, the pots to be attached must be dimensioned differently from the first pot. This is not very efficient, since different sizes of plant pots have to be kept in stock.
The invention has for its object to provide a plant pot of the type mentioned, in which the amount of substrate and thus the space available for the roots of the plant can be increased easily and without the disadvantages of the known plant pots.
This is achieved according to the invention in that the container consists of two sections arranged one above the other, the lower section of the wall of the container having an outer diameter which is substantially equal to the inner diameter of the upper section of the wall of the container and in that the outer pot extends into the transition region between the smaller-diameter, lower and the larger-diameter, upper section of the container.
If one wants to enlarge the space available for the roots of the plant in the plant pot according to the invention, it suffices to set the container holding the substrate under another, similar container filled with substrate. It is not necessary to remove the plant from the original container. A further advantage is that the transition between the lower-diameter and the larger-diameter section of the same, which can also be seen inside the container, represents a mark for the height up to which the container must be filled with substrate.
In the embodiment, it can be provided that at least one vertical slot is provided in the lower section of the container in the wall thereof and that at least one vertical rib pointing inward is provided in the upper, larger-diameter section of the container, the width of which is the inside width of the slot corresponds in the lower section.
The slot provided in the smaller-diameter section of the container not only has the task of serving to accommodate the rib when assembling several containers of the same type to form larger containers, but at the same time forms an opening in the container which permits liquid exchange. The arrangement of the combination of rib and slot ensures that containers that are joined together are held together securely.
In order to facilitate the assembly of several containers, it can be provided in the context of the invention that the rib tapers in a wedge-like manner.
In another embodiment of the invention it can be provided that the bottom of the container is arranged at a distance from the lower end of the wall of the container and that at least one groove is provided in the lower end region of the wall, which groove from the outside of the wall of the container in the so formed space at the bottom of the container leads.
The outer pot provided in the plant pot according to the invention is advantageously designed such that ribs are provided on the inside of the same on the bottom of the outer pot, so that the container is arranged at a distance from the bottom of the outer pot.
Furthermore, it can be provided that vertical ribs are provided on the inside of the wall of the outer pot, which abut the outside of the smaller-diameter section of the wall of the container.
This design of the outer pot does not result in the entire height
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
of the container-reaching outer pot a sufficient liquid margin. The vertical ribs of the outer pot provide the necessary friction between the container and the outer pot, so that the outer pot cannot slip off the container even if the plant pot is gripped and lifted on the outside of the container when the outer pot is full.
The following description of the exemplary embodiment shown in the drawings shows further details and features. 1 shows a container in a perspective view
Representation seen from above, FIG. 2 the container from FIG. 1 seen from below and FIG. 3 in a section a plant pot consisting of a container and an outer pot.
A container --1-- shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, consisting of a substantially cylindrical jacket-shaped wall --2-- and bottom --3--, is inserted into an outer pot to form a plant pot, which does not have the entire height of the container 1 is sufficient, as can be seen in particular from FIG. 3.
The container-l or. its wall --2-- has a larger-diameter upper section --5-- and a smaller-diameter lower section-6-. The inner diameter of the larger-diameter section --5-- corresponds to the outer diameter of the smaller-diameter section --6--, so that several containers --1-- can be inserted into one another.
A ring shoulder --8-- is provided on the inside of the wall --2-- of the container --1-- in the transition area between sections --5 and 6--, against which the lower edge --9 - of the container --1-- is in the case of nested containers --1--. At the same time, the upper edge --10-- of the container --1-- lies against the substantially annular shoulder --11-- provided on the outside of the wall of another container-1-.
On the inside of the wall --2-- in the area of the larger diameter section --5-- are parallel to the longitudinal axis of the container - 1-aligned, i.e. H. essentially vertical
Ribs --12-- are provided which, when the containers are inserted one into the other - l - engage in slots --7-- provided in the lower section --6-- with smaller diameter. The intermeshing of ribs --12-- and slots --7-- ensures that the containers-l-nests are securely held together. The slots --7-- also have the cultural-technical function of allowing the nutrient fluid to flow through.
The upper ends of the ribs --12--, whose cross-section essentially corresponds to the cross-sectional shape of the slots --7--, in order to ensure the necessary frictional connection, is chamfered in order to make it easier to fit containers -l- together.
The bottom --3-- of the container --1-- is, as can be seen from Fig. 2, at a distance from the lower end --9-- of the wall --2-- of the container --1--. In addition, grooves --14-- are provided in the area of the lower edge so that nutrient liquid can flow under the bottom of the container-l-. The bottom --3-- is provided with essentially triangular slits --15-- which widen from the inside to the outside. These slits --15--, which can be arranged approximately in the form of a star lamella as shown in FIGS. 2 and 3, form a sufficiently large opening in the bottom --3-- of the container - which practically do not interrupt the capillary activity and facilitate root penetration .
1 and 2 it can also be seen that in the wall --2-- of the container --1-- a recess which, as shown, in the form of an only molded into the wall --2-- 16-- can be formed, is provided, in which a water level indicator, not shown, can be inserted. In order to be able to use water level indicators with different outside diameters, a longitudinal rib --17-- is provided in the area of the groove --16--. This rib --17- is simply pressed flat when inserting a water level indicator with a larger diameter, which is easily possible if the container-l-made of plastic foam, e.g. B.
Polystyrene foam is made.
From Fig. 3 it can also be seen that on the inside of the wall --18-- of the outer pot - 4-- vertical ribs --19-- are provided, which on the outside of the smaller diameter section --6-- of the wall - -2-- of the container --1-- fit with friction.
In order to increase the water supply in the outer pot --4--, at least in the area of the wall - the inner container --21-- of the outer pot - 20-- projecting ribs --20- are provided, against which the tank --1-- with its lower margin --9--. In the
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
The space thus formed between the bottom --3-- of the container --1-- and the bottom --21-- of the outer pot - permanent fertilizer packs can also be arranged.
It can be seen that with the plant pot according to the invention, various container sizes that were previously necessary are unnecessary and that transplanting small pots into large pots, as had previously been done, can be dispensed with.
