Description
<Desc/Clms Page number 1>

Device for the regulation of AC commutator machines.
According to Austrian Patent No. 30701, AC commutator machines with short-circuit and exciter brushes are excited during start-up by the excitation currents being fed to the armature through the short-circuit connections (or one of the short-circuit connections) and diverted through some of the exciter brushes. According to the present invention, for the circuit as a shunt machine, the short-circuit connection is not, as is known, placed at a certain point in the mains voltage (Fig. 1), but rather the starting (friction) circuit is left unchanged and the shunt excitation by the two exciter brushes caused (Fig. 2).
In this way, the working current, the friction excitation current and the shunt excitation current are superimposed in the armature.
In the figures, s denotes the stator winding, k the short-circuit brush connection, e the exciter brushes, t a controllable transformer through which the voltage supplied to the motor can be regulated. Switch a is open at startup and is closed later. The closing can also take place automatically depending on the number of revolutions of the motor or by a relay depending on one of the voltages available.
